My song is being used! :-) « Result #3 on Nov 20, 2009, 6:37pm »
I was contacted to have my song "Forever in my Heart" used for the background music for an awareness and fundraising video for juvenile diabetes. My blog has more details and the actual video posted if you want to see it. The little girls in it are twins and both have type 1 diabetes, which means insulin injections.
I cannot think of a better way to use my music and am honored beyond the description of words.... It all started on a PS5....

Not sure the friends will agree, but I find the other stereo mix better. In this song, the vocals may very well be that much in front in the mix, in my opinion.

Good song and recording. Well done.
First : the drums is good and very well in the balance.
What I would have done slightly different :
• specifically : I would have put the (main) acoustic guitar further away from center.
• in general : As I believe Mike already mentioned, don’t be shy on using the full stereo field. Forget about the numbers, use your ears. And be not afraid to put things much more L or R in order to widen the stereo image of your songs.
Having said that : what you do GF, in composing, playing, singing, and now also in recording and mixing, is extremely good. We’re picking on details now, just trying to help you put that slight bit more icing on the cake, but apart from that, the cake and icing are already there, and it’s pure quality.

Re-recorded lead vocals. Remixed the rest of the cake batter. I wanted the kick drum to be the "lub dub" heart in the song, as it's about a heart walking off. haha!! Hope I achieved the pulse and the song hasn't gone into cardiac arrest!
Posted on Reverb and Soundclick. Time to take a breather! Whew!

I posted a third try with the vocals a little more seated in the mix, but now I'm insecure if I've seated them too much. Which do you feel is the smoothest? Opinions? (posted Only on Soundclick)

I think I managed to smooth this one out, too. Did I get the drums to sit a little more noticeable? I will leave the old and the new up on Soundclick for comparison.
Thanks again for all your input as I go back with the "broom" to clean up my mixes. All of your suggestions have made so much of a difference. I can't believe everything I've learned without paying a plug nickel of tuition! I feel guilty!! haha! You guys are the best!
