lamplight.no-ip.org/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=4Done!! (its called driving5.mp3 at the bottom of the page. smaller mp3 (i was mixing down at a higher quiality.. oops) I figured out how to copy/paste and tightened of the chorus' much better, lowered the volume on them to.. moved some guitar parts around, lessened the reverb Ive never worked so much on a song before. i so glad people tell ya how it is around here id never get any better the drumming was just so good it inspired me.. do i have to say im kidding? Thanks again for feedback! Well I like the chorus there that loud. But hey its your song. Your artistic rights. I'd like it either way I think.

Hey Matt!
Great mix!
I hear all kinds of "sounds" in this song. The rhythm/bass/synth section remind me of "Justify My Love" by Madonna. Roger's monolog could almost pass for Frank Sinatra(!). And the lead guitar has a very Dire Straits' sound to it. Very cool the way they all mixed together!
Excellent lyrics! Tight and clever rhyming scheme. Wish I could write 'em like that!
Kudos all around!

Thanks Charlie, and appreciate the email too. Im relatively new to all this as y'all know. I dont know the madonna song , I SO glad i spent a little more time on the mix.. that first chorus from yesterday was at a noticeable different voilume and that stuff bugs ya after a while, knowing it could have been fixed. the guitar recorded this time around NOT following standard recommendations ( i used 1 large, and 2 small condenser mics in the room, none near the amp) and I think i got it a lot closer to the sound that was really in the room. then i drenched it with stereo chorus w/an echo on the computer. as far as the writing that one sorta poured outta me only took a few days here and there working on it. whats tough (for me) is finding a GOOD word that has lots of rhymes and forcing myself not to stay on it too long then it sounds like rhyming for the sake of it instead of helping the song cadence move along.. thanks Roger and Frank!! couldn't have gotten ANYTHING like these results without either of your input!! Hey Matt! Great mix! Charlie

Just went back and listened to "Justify My Love," and found that the bass plays the same single note through the entire song! Scratch the bass from my list.

Congrats on the remix Matt! Made a hugh difference! Man what a song. You should be very proud.
Roger, great monolog! You add a lot of feeling even though it's all spoken: a synical edge on chosen words, a slight mutter: "the cops say they're going to clean it up..." (or something like that). You have a very good speaking voice. Ever done anything like this before (a monolog)?
Yep, Matt, this board is invaluable when it comes to mixing feedback (who would ever want to mix feedback??!! . ;D). Just think if you stopped with the version 2 mixes ago?
As always, Frank, nice bass.
Jim

Great idea but i wanted to try ONE MORE THING.. I posted a ? in gadgets forum about mp3directcut the free mp3 editor and its ability to change gain, but it leaves the mp3 unreadable by some mp3 players(only doing gain adjustments). it has a level function (like final compression at the mastering stage i think youd call it?) anyhow i did that and it sounds little better. but if its unuseable.. ive gotten no response so i guess nobody knows of an alternative. then it hit me i can run it on the wav file before i make the mp3, so let me try that tonight and once done ill hit Mike up for posting it. i kept hoping i could fix that fuzzy drumming but just goes to show i shoulda read the essay on track preparation a long time ago and maybe could have avoided it Mike put it on the PS5UG-band-page at soundclick? efkay

this should stream for you, if it doesnt let me know. lamplight.no-ip.org/phpbb2/files/music.m3uBY THE WAY (and this goes for any of you modem users still out there): , in my research on this little problem i found that any mp3 player like realone, musicmatch, or wmp will stream an mp3 if you go file->open, and paste in the url link to the song.. (i never knew this!) which you can get by right clicking on the mp3 file link on any page .. (as long as its a direct link to the file..) Matt, this has nothing to do with your music and everything to do with my Internet connection, but I never listen to your songs, because it entails me having to download the MP3 versus streaming it. At my d/l rate, the next Ice Age would come before the thing was ready. Ever given any thought to getting a SC page? Of course, no need to do it just for my sake. I may be the next to last guy in the U.S. who still uses Dial-Up

Hope I don't fall all over myself saying this, but I loved the art of the song - the creativity and style. Holzra's vocals were great, loved Matt's funky lead guitar, sparse, but appropriate, and efkay's bass was awesome .... drums sucked, but ya can't have everything (hehe). Cerealously, congrats to youse guys. That is a song that definitely merits more than one listen!
*** out of **** stars!
B.S. - Forgot to mention the nice synth work, too. OK, Matt, I was a bit harsh to comment on your drumming. The song is so well-done, frankly, barely noticed the drums. And to be perfectly fair, you're trying AND you ARE improving.

my theory is they're always messin with us (computers). try this and you scroll down to driving home which has a link and msg about the song. the drums are funky sounding due to bouncing them too much (twice i think, cant remeber) and also im new playing drums (about 5-6 mos) so keep that in mind. otherwise.. i like it. also the guitar is sorta "off" timing wise which nobody commented on but oddly it works for some reaosn.. .. i had a cold that day but after listening a few (ok 3-400 ) times i decided it was quirky and offbeat like me (get it? offbeat? no? ah well... ). the song was downloaded 24 times i just noticed, holy smokes im a SUPER STAR! lamplight.no-ip.org/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=4
