got my fix sunday afternoon and heres the result. jammed the rhythm and laid some very weak lead, then risked a few dodgy lyrics, truck load of reverb. some might be offended by the quality of the vocal and quantity of reverb, but it was a one take for all tracks and i simply love it, its been playing in the car at full volume constantly. this is exactly the sound i have been searching for, still needs tweaks but i feel im getting the sound im looking for. at the end of the day its as close as i can get to oasis. best of all it was done with what was in the tascam box with my tele. tascam mic, moody vocal, jimi for rhythm and fusion 2 for lead...tg drums and bass.

I'm getting a 'cannot find media specified' error when I try to lo-fi it. I'm able to access 'This Song' directly below it, but not 'BE'. Are you able to play it?

Yeah, it's working now. . . it's a big ol' slab of rock, ain't it? Not bad for all single takes. Production-wise, there are things you could do to clean it up (I can't make out a single word), but maybe it's better all emotional and pounding. The only thing I think I'd do to enhance it would be to pile more reverb on the lead guitar part. It still seems a little dry, but it's like salt - you add to suit.
Nice one Rob. it smacks you upside the head.

slab of rock! i might rename it! the vocals actually casued me to remix burn to cd, and try on different systems many many times (about half a packet of cds), first vocals to high, too low...but right now as they are when you turn it up in the car so your ears bleed the vocals are just right!! ok so its not really designed for public consumption, but if i had the vocals at the right level for quiet listening then on high it was just the vocal on top of everything...
but you got it really, get the pounding and emotional thing and you got what i was trying to deliver!!
slab of rock!!

Hot Dang Rob, This is it man, freek instrumentation is just awesome, the best track you have by leaps and bounds. This reminds me of oasis, just rocking harder! The guitar lines blow me away the delay effect is sweet man! The melody was great aswell. Im a little confused about its structure though, cant quite quite tell where I am in the song all the time. Ok second listen its starting to come together for me hehe I was a little confused for a second there Dang good track Rob, Im very impressed! I could make out most of the vocal as well I think your levels are pretty good. Gee whiz I got to go write a rocker now lol Cameron

nice! slab o' rock sorta a "the edge" approach to the lead/rythm that works well with a tele.. good one rob.. nice melody.. original soundiong PERFECT mix on the drums .. since theyre tg.. that way theyre up enough to provide the beat but back enough that you cant tell theyre fake you know what i like to do? take they wacked out jams.. then take my time in other parts and "buff it out" its fun.. this ios pretty fine as is other than obvious vocal problem

It's easy enough to get lost in production techniques and dead-accurate tuning. Steely Dan once spent two weeks trying to decide how many milliseconds of reverb to apply to a backing vocal. I'm as guilty of that as anyone here. So it's nice to just sometimes hear from the 'primeval' side of music, to remind us it was the cavemen knocking rocks on tree trunks that started the whole thing off.
Slab of rock, indeed!

funny thing about the melody...i had a dilemna about that.....i laid the vocal as usual, but of la la, and oh oh oh...which is what i tend to do if im writing on the ps5...to ge the melody...then i usually go back with words to fit the melody....and then change the mei=oldy till i feel it all fits ...but the vocal track kinda fell into place...sorta alright...and i was getting ready to write full lyrics and tidy it all up...but then it dawned on me that maybe that has been my problem...everything comes out too predicatable, mechanised..verse.chorus...which is fine...but as an experiment i thought i would miss that step...cos the song is so basically 4 chords over and over again for 4 minutes...i figured if i leave the lead and vocal kinda messed up then it will give a more...no... a less predicable...premeditated ....more emotional feeling...like a monster rampaging!! anyhow, looks like you all got that, im just rewording what y'all said.
so glad you liked it...lets see what else i can do with this style...

To BE or not to BE...I say BE!
Really good song. It is not the number of chords in as song, its the way you use them. Excellent guitar and vocals.
Wish I could have heard it louder. The wife is a sleep right next to the computer. Well have to listen again tommorrow.

A big disadvantage of my HP Pavilion home computer: There is no headphone jack anywhere! The CD player has one on the front, but the soundcard still plays through. It's hard to believe such a callamity.

You should be able to plug headphones into the jack on the soundcard where you have the speakers plugged in. Off to Radio Shack again for an A/B switch!
