After knocking out the recording of "Daytripper" and "Get Back", and making a running leap at "Revolution", the musicians decided to kick back and jam for awhile. That's when Rob started strumming a new tune, Summer's Gone, that he'd been working on. It wasn't long before Stan started playing a gutsey Blues lead, while Ronnie thumped along lazily on bass. I hurriedly cobbled together a drum line from PS5 Pattern file. We inquired what lyrics Rob had written. At that point, my son, Larson, grabbed a pad of paper and finished the rest of the lyrics. With all that in hand, the musicians took up their instruments, and upon declining the lead vocals, Rob invited Larson to sing the part. What resulted was a LIVE version of a song that we all agreed had to be redone as a traditional PS5 "studio" collaboration.

To add to this. I was taken a little off guard by thinking that recording was over for the day. None of us synced up well on Revolution so Rob started showing us a song that he had just started.
Ronnie had some great bass riffs, while Rob was playing his song's chords for us, and so I joined in. We all immediately liked Rob's structure and the over-all feel of the song. While we went through some parts of it, stopping & starting a few times, the next thing I know lyrics were ready and it was time to record. This was a very ruff first take, so we gave it one shot, and then packed up our gear. It felt good to get 3 songs down!

I'm glad you guys went beyond the three songs planned and did some real jamming. And without a live drummer! Amazing! This is the real icing on the Funstock cake. Tell Larson it's good to have something to fall back on if the Papa John's job falls through.

Reloading the MP3. Apparently something went wrong. Check this link again in about 30 minutes to give it time to clear Soundclick. Pictures coming soon to the "Funstock Photo Album".

Rob, You the "Icing on The Cake Man!" + AOTM
When I was at Funfest I sometimes felt like the 'ole doctor trying to get the mother to push her triplets out. The first one came out real slow, the second one faster, and by the time Rob introduced "summer is gone" the last one plopped right out on the floor.
I guess I have this "I want something down before lunch" mentality. It was probably my fault that we ate luke-warm Pa John's instead of hot pizza, but it was worth it to get Day Tripper behind us.
Hope I'm turning into the dad on "American Chopper." Wouldn't mind having his 21" biceps though.

#24 on the Blues General chart. This is definitely Rob's month - as it should be.

Roger (may I call you Son?), Don't have a 2488, but if I did HF Jr. would get it, because I wouldn't be able to figure out how to make it work (too old). And, if you don't mind (and even if you do), I've been quoting you lately to other PS5UG'ers, "Welcome to the 90's". Why I oughta ....
