posted this one yesterday, but had to think about letting you guys know about it. at first it may sound a little controversial to the more religious of you. its not meant to be an actively controversial retort, its more of a passive internal mumbling from someone who doesnt believe in god a structured way, but after a few years on the planet has come to believe that there is probably a reason for everything, not destiny, maybe just an equation (ok so i am an engineer, and i believe in darwin and einstein), i just dont believe any thing after death, but religion serves as a good social charter and well....theres a lot of you on this forum and i dont mean to upset you, its just this all plays on my mind...sometimes more often than not...and this is one of those times that it does....and im trying to work out what it is that i believe in....i believe in myself, and my friends and family...and thats what im trying to say...i think ..

So a day after Funstock, another new tune makes a debut? Rob, you're becoming a machine.
This is very much a RHCP type track. Good guitar work (like the wah solo at the end). I can hear your mixing is improving. There's something about the vocal that I can't quite put my finger on. I don't know if it's a good thing or a bad thing, but it's certainly something.

Rob, Not to start a theological debate, but just for the record: Einstein was a Christian. Well-known fact. Darwin goes against God's creation, and was almost certainly not a Christian but rather tried to prove that science is God. Haven't figured Darwin's theory on the Hummingbird yet? I don't see how the 2 could have believed on many of the same principles at all. God gave us the free choice to believe anything that we want to believe, instead of making us robots. (last religious comment of the day)I'm heading over to SC listen now. Stan

I want to go to heaven, but I'm having a devil of a time with Soundclick today. ;D
Guess I'll try again later.

Look around you, even the simplest things, like an apple or a tree or a bug.
Tell me what is inperfect, besides what humans have done.
Try making a tree or a baby with something you can't see, in nine months.
No mind boggling FORCE there, eh.
I guess things JUST happen...
Okay, okay... Don't want to get barred from here again.

hey, Stan. I dig your picture at Funstock, where you are "concentrating on your guitar playing"! cool one.

you being an engineer, must understand that master plans must be drawn up to begin building...
Someone brighter than my cat drew up the plans for the PS5.
A PS5 is nothing compared to the universe and all in it!
a grain of sand on the beach... ;D
okay, okay...

Sorry Rob, back to your song,
I really like your guitar parts, and as always your vocals are great. The song, is of course, controversial... It raises some real questions that each individual in the human race must face sometime in their life. Is there really a heaven or hell?
Will we all agree?. Will we all come to the same conclusion? Not here on earth we won't.

Hey Rob!
As a recovering agnostic, I understand where you're coming from. I respect honest inquiry and meditation upon the origin of the universe, afterlife, spirituality, and other such topics. Faith is a gift. Acceptance of faith is a form of surrender, which is tough for us analytical types to handle! To me, the deepest question is "Why is there something rather than nothing?" Ever tried to imagine complete nothingness in place of the universe that we have come to know? I suspect that's akin to how you view death.
Enough of that...
I like the simplicity of your arrangement. Fits well with the contemplative nature of the song. Great guitar part! Might benefit from a deeper bass line, if only to put the lead to one side of center and bass on the other side -- not widely separated, maybe L20 / R20. I wouldn't add any instruments beyond that. Lyrically, "Will I be a happy person in hell" seems to me a bit flippant compared with the rest of the lyrics.
Thank you for a piece that is deeper than the typical "She loves you yeah yeah yeah" kind of stuff. Not that there's anything wrong with "She loves you..."! Search on, Rob. May you find peace of spirit in the end.

Charlie,
actually the line "would i be a happy person in hell" was what it all started from. Larson (scotts kid) wrote a note to BP while on line at funstock "there are many good people in hell". i was confused at first, but he explained that it doesnt matter if you are good or bad in this life, but if you have faith then you will go to heaven. well im happy now...and im a reasonably good person...so...anyhow...thank you very much for the acceptance of the lyrics as they are...actually i might ditch the song its just caused me too much confusion, this subject hurts my head!!
(but youre right, i feel it does revolve around the issue of nothingness btw, its a good place to start the thought)
actually the music is the same as "summer's gone" that we did in funstock, i just changed the strumming....errmmman i guess a few words!

oh right sorry i weas meditating.. oh yeah really. im staying waay away from this topic except that i like your tune rob, finally listened. im shocked you posted it HERE (kidding again). feel the force luke.. all i can say is if i was religious i would be a good jedi knight and fight the dark side of the force as i do now. you underestimated your guitar playin (previously) you have the groove what'd you use for the wah? sounds like chorus/wah and distortion together?? nice tone to me

footsteps in the sand? why you say that...i just removed those lyrics an hour ago from a song i just posted (strong the force must be with you)
i usually jam like this on my own but never usually record...thought i give it try and i too am well pleased with it..
but the wah and effects is the special thing! its all through this new amp, you can turn loads of effects on at the same time with this crazy foot board...which also has the wah/volume pedal on it too...is it possible to love a machine?
oh yeah and there are two guitar tracks...should have mentioned that first i suppose...
