Hi Guys: Probably the last song I do in Leeds because I'm going back to Mexico on the 1st of september, so I hope you enjoy it, it is in spanish and if I have the time later I would do a translation, but if you like guitar you may want to hear it, it has some nice solos. www.soundclick.com/gustavomeillonNiña de Cristal. It makes you want to give up and go weave baskets or something. . . Another superb track. The TG track may be a bit boomy, but that could also be the lo-fi. Vocal starts out a bit too far back, but makes its way through the mix soon enough. With amazing solos like these, who needs a translation? It's going to be a race to see who becomes famous first, Gustavo or Cameron. It's probably too late for the rest of us old guys.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Matt, I like the idea of Santana in classical guitar, it was exactly the kind of feel I wanted for the song.
Mike, I'll put my money on Cameron, I am not that young, not that commited I have a wife and want a family soon so... its 9 to 5 for me.

Hey Gustavo!!!
Nice, really nice man.
To me its more like Cafe Tacuba than Santana.
For all the rest, the lyrics are about leaving a girl behind and longing to see her that one last time...
Congrats again buddy!

Real fresh, clean, guitar runs, and just the right vocal clarity. Very professional sound. The Gust-0-meter just got buried. Well past the "good" mark on the meter.

Hey Gustavo!
Another masterfully played song!
Sounds like you often (maybe always -- I didn't go back and check) use the copy / delay / hard pan effect on your vocal. I happen not to be a big fan of that effect in most songs (sorry Mike!).
To me, as a listener, it makes it difficult or impossible to locate the voice in the stereo field. That can be a useful effect in a psychedelic piece like "Strawberry Fields Forever," but for a song as mellow as "Niña de Cristal," I've gotta wonder if the vocal wouldn't sound better front and center with maybe a touch of reverb. Just a thought!
Anyway -- beautiful song, beautifully played! And you make it sound so easy! Always a joy to listen to your music!
Have a safe trip back to Mexico!

Thanks guys for the feedback.
Gamma: I am a big fan of CT so thanks for the comparision.
Stan: Thanks a lot, my next song is going to be a 100% spanish instrumental with my spanish guitar that is waiting for me in Mexico.
Objecks: I've never used the copy/ delay /hard pan effect. What I do is sing the part two different times in different tracks so I get two different feels, some times when I put them together I dont like the way it sounds so I just use the one I like the most but other times I like the sound I get of two different feels for the same song. Yes I use it a lot but if you check my songs I could say 50% of them are done this way, as I told you it depends if I like how the two tracks sound together.

Hey Gustavo!
My mistake. True double tracking... not artificial double tracking. Both are very popular techniques found in many successful recordings. I've used both myself from time to time.
I'm just one casual listener who prefers to be able to pinpoint the vocalist, and I can't do that with this mix.
Bottom line -- it's your song and your preference that matters. And it IS a beautiful song!
