Very nice, Rog. I like the melody and the chord changes. It all moves along well. Is it just another love song like the previous 1,133, or is it rooted in something special?

hey mike, thanks for listening and the kind words . . . . yeah, i guess with 55 coming up in a few weeks the mind goes back and back and back and back ad infinitum . . . . so, i guess they are all rooted somewhere between 25 and 40 years ago . . . . . ah, but tomorrow is another day . . . . .
roger
hmmmm . . . . 55 . . . . now i am remembering franks and my version of 'ol '55 . . . . guess i will adopt that as my theme song for the year . . . . .

Roger, A very nice classic ballad sound to it. Lyrics fit very well with the chords, and the vocals are strong and sounded great. Since this is a demo, the only thing I would suggest would be to take part of the chorus effect out of the guitar. If there is a way you could get more lows and mids and less highs the natural wood sound might come out better. Matt has micing the acoustic guitar down to a science.
Whenever I finally get the right balanced sound that I want, I always pick a hissing air sound in the track. Might not have a good enough mic or the right equipment to get a clean balanced acoutic guitar sound. The tube amp in the POD with a bypass effect doesn't cut it either.
Anyway, great song. Stan

science? i dont think so.. thanks though stan! the quality tone is usually proportionate to the amount of time i take to setup and position the mic, testing results before going to 'tape'. some dude on funender gets this incredible acoustic tone with a $9 computer mic it makes me sick. (daniel iorio or something like that). studio projects mics are very very nice for the money guys.. i know a studio with them.. (mine was only 100). rhode nt1a is only 200 cannot absulutely go wrong for that $. then there the bluebird mics.. ahhhh big $. a large diaphram condenser is the ticket. i also used 2 small diaphram condencers on one of my last few songs and that sounded great too (i forget which song though!!) anyhow. rog yea other than that gtr tone which you kow about its another nice tune.. im a bit burned out on that Am thing (i think thats what it is?) its in so many songs so i might change the that a bit but thats my personal quest to be differtent (at least where i can- in music) trying to be honest. now your lyrics who the hell can fauult them? go ahead i dare you, anyone. youre a songwriting natural

matt, but your wife LIKED it . . . . . . thanks for the comments . . . . . all taken very constructively . . . . . actually it was Dm C G . . . . . . the lyrics, you know me, a brain fart here and there and then the words come out, kinda like what you do . . . can you imagine a collab on lyrics back and forth . . . . like stephen king and peter king did on talisman, each writing a chapter and playing off each other?! wondering what rob thought of the song and the lyrics . . . . . .

well yea i am trying to be constructive of COURSE.. it was that c note second string i was hearing then... oh yea wife liked it alot! im only saying what i think since you asked, i figure it does none of us any good to get stroked, and blind harsh criticism is equally pointless, i figure i'll try to stick to my impressions thats all anyone can ask right? maybe i should just stick to the parts i like and not mention the parts i dont like? im so confused, trying to be helpful i dunno what is or isnt.. i know when my aquaintances say"its a start" about my bass playing it is not helpful. especially as i KNOW its a start yea king and straub or something no doubt.. i think the combination just might be too much for normal folks to take. i hope i didnt come off offensive. i would love to see your engineer skills improve as your songs deserve it, thats my motivation for these short novells.. i usually ask folks for specific impressions myself (mix, structure, whatever) , at this stage couse you get so many opinions its really not helpful . i hope my Am comment wasnt too much in that category. i am a student as well. i liked 'little too' way more between the 2, wife didnt. so there ya go. she is the better educated between us

Roger, Good chord progression, great lyrics. Do you do any writing when you're on the road? Or is always when you have a guitar in your hands? I like the pause that precedes "silently" at the end of the chorus. Jim

Very nice track Roger - the emotion in your voice and lyric is definitely turned on, even if your 2488 isn't yet!

Liked it, but....
....from about half way through I started to yearn for the big drum intro to deep bass and a lead guitar crying into the night. Didn't do it for me as it stands but love the voice and lyrics.

While a mournful lead guitar is always welcome in my soundscape, this song is VERY cool as it is...Peter

thanks guys!! as i said "demo, demo, demo" but aren't they all for me . . . . soon though i WILL be taking my time . . . . jim, i have taken my guitar on the road a few times but it becomes more of a hassle than not . . . i do write bits and pieces here and there and get home and find a briefcase full of hotel stationery with phrases . . . . then when the "muse" strikes i go through the piles and see if anything will fit ;D this new room will actually allow me to play a little more with getting the sound of the guitar right ('course a new taylor or martin won't hurt!!) that ovation is tough to get a wood versus fibreglass sound . . . i have thought about brushes, but probably no rough lead, trying to keep mournful . . . thanks for the comments everyone, i appreciate them very, very much . . . .
