I did a 1st pass at the guitar tracks over the weekend and see possible potential to finish it. Right now the MIDI bass track is not sitting in the mix and it is extremely muddy but those details can get worked out. Mike, I didn't know if you were up for a bass track or not. Anyone that could do the vocals that might drop by I would love it.... I remember Roger H. did an excellent job on this... Too bad I don't have the old PS5 tracks from the Rolling Stones project Having fun started. I could just reuse the vocals by exporting. Any additional thoughts or a desire to jump in just let me know. I would appreciate it. Actually, if anyone still has a PS5 and kept Havin Fun's Gimme Shelter project then maybe they could just mix the one vocal track of Rogers and send it to me. Yeah, I can do a bass track. I'm expecting delivery of a new one sometime this month (fingers crossed). As with the Jazz bass on the jazz tune, this would be a good way to break in the new one when it arrives.
I'll see if I can email HF to ask if he has the files with Roger's vocal.

Thx Mike... I think I used the same MIDI file from our old project so the tempo should be close. I also just ordered on ebay the Toontrack Custom & Vintage SDX which should fit better with this song.
I'm sure we can come up with something decent.

Spoke to Scott - he has no PS5 files. With Roger apparently planning on retirement in Turkey, a new vocalist might be needed.
New bass may be in hand by the end of next week, or the beginning of the following week.

I just installed the Custom & Vintage drum kits yesterday but haven't had a chance to listen to its samples yet.
I checked with Rob as well and he is pretty busy at work right now. I may have to do vocals myself but prefer not to. It will still be really fun to do a mini-collab again.

Mike, I'll be sending you the L/R mono ref tracks of the mix in 16-bit sometime over the weekend.
Vocals are still a big issue.

Well, we'll just do our bits and leave it in the queue. Don't we have another song we did about a year or so ago that still needs vocals as well?

Yes, it was a CCR song. I attempted a vocal part but the range is right in between my low and high voice so neither way sounds good.
Yes, maybe someone loves the song as much as I do and can also sing it...hahahaa.
Maybe we can sell it as a Karaoke backing track!!!

Got it. Still waiting on the new bass, so I'll let you know when I have something to report.

Stan, just an update: I threw my back out last week, so everything's been on hold as I've been pretty immobile. I've only been able to play for very short periods, and even then only while sitting down. So once the muscle sprains heal, I'll be able to focus on this track.

Sorry to hear about your back Mike. I too have back issues and could not stand up with a Les Paul for more than 15 minutes until the lower back grabs (def a sign of aging, but not that you are). I hope it heals fast!
I got a software contract today and have been off for 2 months this summer so I will need to ramp up on the new environment.
Take your time and I hope that you get to feeling better real soon.

Update: I'm probably at 85-90% of normal; at least I'm able to strap on an instrument and stand upright again. I've loaded the backing tracks for "GS" into Cubase and will probably start trying to learn the song this week. Now that school has started up again, I have the house to myself for most of the day.

I'm glad you are feeling better Mike. I look forward to it.
There are some internet collab sites out there. So, maybe I could post it in a public area and see if anyone wants to do vocals later
