For a loooong time, I've had a little descending blues lick and 2/3rds of a verse. Whenever I'd play guitar, I'd usually go through it, and try to find an end to the verse. Never could. Then recently I gave it another go. Finally, something clicked and I was able to finish the verse. Then I sat down and knocked out a few more just like that. There followed a few more weeks of playing it in different tempos and feels, etc. At long last, I set about doing a drum track in BIAB. And here it is, just a stereotypical rotten luck blues number. Recorded and mixed entirely in Cubase, except for the vocals, which I did on the TASCAM DP-32SD. At it's heart, it's just a three-piece rhythm section with vocals and leads plastered on top. I'm still not entirely comfortable mixing in Cubase, but projects like this help me get a little more settled each time. I was able to use some of the FX I've gotten, hopefully to good 'effect'. https%3A//soundcloud.com/mcarp555/ive-been-down-so-long

Nice 60s blues sound Mike! I really enjoyed it. I was a bit preoccupied with all of the BBQ over the past few days. I'm glad to see you are still churning songs out.

Thanks Stan. I really wanted it to sound like some gravel-voiced bluesman, or at least some sort of white soul shouter like Gregg Allman. Instead it's the Chipmunks at a campfire. Everyone says it sounds like Beatles.

Now I've got a video!
This video was created entirely by my daughter, who's twelve; all I did was supply the photos, which are the guitars used in the recording.

Hey Mike,
Nice job! Recorded and mixed in cubase too, cool. Sounds like your making really good use of the software. Tasty guitar and vocal melodies, very catchy! It's so awesome when you able to finish a track thats been sitting around for a while!
Coo video! All those sweet lefties!

Thanks Cam. Not just awesome, it seems to have unblocked the creative flow. I'm already deep into the next recording, and have lyrics lined up that need music for possibly two more.
