This is a ballad that I've been working on slavishly for weeks. I wrote the lyrics in March (of this year, 2017) but was unable to do anything with it until August, as I already had a queue of material lined up to work on (I've Been Down So Long, the remake of the String Quartet, The I Ain't Got No Blues). I was finally able to spend a few days knocking out some chords in early August, then jumped into setting up drum tracks shortly thereafter. As is now the norm, most of the tracks were done in Cubase, except for vocals, keys and acoustic guitar, which were done with the TASCAM DP-32SD and transferred over.
It's a first in that many of the other tracks were written and transferred from Musescore 2 into Cubase. This allowed me to create intricate parts I might have difficulty in playing myself, and to give me better sound quality as well. I found it quite easy to listen to the parts while in Musescore and make changes before moving them over to Cubase. Then if more tweaks were needed, I could regenerate the parts and recopy them into the mix. I expect that it will allow me to integrate interesting new sound textures into future recordings.
So unlike the previous two songs, which were very guitar-heavy, LRAT is primarily a piano-driven tune, with only an acoustic guitar buried in the mix. However, by the end the sound is quite full. I'd hate to think how many hours of work I've poured into this, but hopefully the result speaks for itself. And yes, it's very McCartney-esque. Or I hope so, anyway.

This completes my current backlog of material, until I write some more. I may goof off for a long while, unless something tumbles out of my mind when I've got a guitar strapped on. We'll see how it goes.
Edit: Mirrored on Soundclick (with lyrics, if you're interested): Let's Run Away Together (If Only In Our Mind)
