Hey Stan! I've posted an mp3 of "Be Still My Soul" on my Soundclick page: www.soundclick.com/bands/8/objecksmusic.htmThat'll give you an idea of how I play it. No metronome, no midi, just gut feel on the timing. Please let me know what you think. Can we put the two very different styles together for a collab? Charlie

Hey Charlie, This could be a challenge. We are both using our own picking tehcniques which might be combined for something very interesting/special. Both tempos are quite different and you start with DM, GM, AM where I start with E, F#m, Bb. If you could capo up two frets (1 step) and substitute GM to an Em then I think the chords would sync up. Otherwise, I would have to tune down two notes which I prefer not to do. Maybe we could combine our tempos by ear keeping in mind that vocal could be added. I think it would be worth a try. It could be just 2 accoustic guitar tracks with maybe vocals and maybe bass. I would love it if you could add harp in place of bass if you want to try. I can either do the initial track or you can. I have a unique intro which I also put into the middle of the song, or you can do your intros. Let me know if you are still interested, and if you are, then let me know which one of us you want to lay down the initial track. Thanks Charlie, Stan

Sorry, I meant I start with the chords: E, F#m, and B (not Bb) Stan

Hey Stan!
We'll give it a shot! How about you start us off for this one. If you'll post a file, I'll play around with it and see if I can come up with something that meshes well with your style.
By the way, the combination of my GM (capoed up to AM) lead against your F#m would create an F#m7 chord, which should work.* I'll try it that way first, then adjust if it doesn't sound right.

*Music theory 101:
AM = A C# E (1 3 5) F#m = F# A C# (1 b3 5) F#m7 = F# A C# E (1 b3 5 b7)
By the way, F#m7 = A6 :
A6 = A C# E F# (1 3 5 6)

P.S. -- Once this is a collab, I guess we should move the discussion to the "Current Project" folder.

Great Charlie.
I've got a lot of hours to work this week and lots of driving time as well, but I will get to it Saturday morning.
I'll keep you posted as soon as the track is ready. It will probably be sometime Saturday afternoon.
Thanks again Charlie, Stan

Hey Stan,
That should work out fine for me. I'll probably have some time to work on it Sunday.
