I did a new acoustic song "The New Day" with two acoustic guitar tracks in stereo input (4 tracks) mode. It is a slow bluesy sound that I hope you like. As usual it is different (experiemental, but hopefully not mental). www.soundclick.com/bands/8/stangulleymusic.htmStan ;D

How many guitars was I hearing? Cool song Stan. Give us the recording details. Did you copy one of your tracks and offset it so that it's delayed from the first? Sounds good. Jim

Hey stan
Diffenitly cool sounding. My ears would like maybe a little more treble on some guitars. There was a couple of notes that didint sit right to me. Over all though it was nice on the ears. If anything its honest right!!
I remember a def leppard interview where they say how the producer thought that a track was good cause it was honest. lol. Then they go on to say: but the kid sitting in his room in Idaho listening will think its just plain out of tune. It was quite humorous.
Good Job

Cameron, you are exactly right. Some bad notes but not enough for me to decide on a retake. I seldom punch in and out and do complete retakes most of the time. It was another one of those 2 hour project due to a lack of spare time. Jim. I did some weird things in this one. I was just 2 acoustic guitar tracks with no other instruments. I recorded both in stereo pair mode using a POD 2. On the first track I used a Shure mic to amp the guitar directly with the POD's preamp setting. On the second track I used the POD's delay setting (doubling effect) and then mixed it with the PS5 "Heaven" acoustic guitar setting. The song sometimes got my ears going in two different direction to where I couldn't tell which track was making the actual sound. Like I said, I was different. Thanks for your comments guys. Stan

You know your way around your acoustic! You continually demonstrate how you are adding to your guitar-playing skills. But, you'll always be a Bluesman to me

Stan,
I was browsing the forum last night after church, and I saw that you had a new song. I downloaded it and listened. I am having a little trouble picking out the melody in some spots, but overall I like the tempo and feel of the instrumental. Do you have any lyrics in mind? If not, I’d like to try my hand at writing some (in the vein of the song’s title, “The New Day”).
There is coming a new day that will be “The New Day”...

to borrow from HF's previous comment: Stan "the wall of sound " even on acoustic. i can hear a cryin out kinda vocal on this, Ill sing if bp writes words!! like it.. pretty.. alternates between polished and backporch in different settings.. i think its in my key (but what do i know about keys). but parts of the out of off kilter and the end (but call it creating tension) might be hard to sing to. but then again your voice would sound great to this (now i wonder why that is). Stan, Here's my lyrics to your new tune "The New Day."
The New Day
music by Stan Gulley lyrics by Collin Hanson verse 3 by another
Verse 1
When I think about the troubles I've had in this life All the heartaches, disappointments, struggles and strife I can't help but think that there's a better way Can't help but long for a brand new day.
1st Chorus
O, I'm longing for... that brand new day When all my burdens will... be rolled away And all my troubles will... be gone to stay O, I'm longing for... that brand new day
Verse 2
When that new day dawns my heart will sing I'll be free from the trials that this life brings The Sun will shine eternally above And my spirit will soar on wings of love
2nd Chorus
Yes, I'm longing for... that brand new day Where I will spend eternity in heaven some day And I will hear my heavenly Father say, "Welcome, my son, to your brand new day!"
Bridge
O, a brand new day, a brand new light No more darkness, no more night And I can just hear... my Father say, "Welcome to your brand new day."
Verse 3
When I rise above the troubles I've had on this earth To the joys and the glory, of my rebirth My comfort will come when my soul has gone And I open my eyes to the glorious Son
Verse 4
Now when I make the trip, the trip across the way And I enter the gates of heaven on that day I'll be walking down the streets, streets of gold And I'll be livin' in a mansion that will never grow old.
Ending Chorus
O, I'm longing for... that brand new day Where I will spend eternity in heaven some day And I will hear my heavenly Father say, "Welcome, my son, to your brand new day!"
(repeat to fade...) "Welcome, my son, to your brand new day!"
