Here's a song Matt and I started quite a while ago - back when we were on the Yahoo site (Matt probably thought I'd never post it ). I posted a skeleton of a song (a chord progression on piano and organ) and Matt added guitar. Matt's guitar inspired me to write lyrics and rearrange the song adding a bridge. It's a sappy Love song about someone trying to convince two close friends (who have a faltering relationship) to try a little harder. www.soundclick.com/bands/5/jimdurandmusic.htmJim

Seeing that my favorite pie-annie player was back on the scene, I just had to give this one a listen.
Tell me something first, guys. Have you two been watching the TV LAND channel again? This song could have easily been the theme song for the "Mary Tyler Moore" show - very infectious. Had my head bobbing along with Paul's.
I did a double take at the end of Line 4..."lost your hat" was heard by me as something quite different, but I won't go there.
Man, Matt, your drumming on this one was FANTASTIC! I take back all the ugly comments I've ever said about your drumming. You could have given Levon Helm a run on this one!
Congrats to both...but, I think I would have classified this song as Bubblegum Pop, rather than Rock General.
What do I know?

I love bubblegum pop! This would have made a superb Monkees B-side! Great tune; you can't have too much of this sort of thing.

Thanks for the comments, guys. The original words included "It takes two to tango" That was just too much for me and I changed it to "Trust me, I know". You're right HF, it's Mary Tyler Moore exactly! I had a good time with the arrangement, and hey! Music is Music! Paul, that's Matt singing the harmony. I wasn't happy with my vocals and Matt suggested that he harmonize with me throughout. His harmony really helped! How do you like the "keyboard bass"? That was Matt's suggestion also.

Good choice, Jim, on kissing "It takes two to tango" goodbye! That would have definitely sent me OVER the edge!
