hey cam, another solid effort. before everything "kicked in" i was picturing this echoing guitar coming in and a 60s ish trippy thing.. funny how everybody could do the same music different. your voice is sounding fine. getting better.. i liker how all your songsa have the full sound.. i think its 2 guitars that must be doing it.

I like the sound Cameron. Your guitar reminds me of the group Boston.
Have you ever considered putting your lyrics on your SoundClick page?

Thanks guys. Yea its neat how one persons vision of a song is always different. Yea I love that full sound. As you said I accomplish that by using two guitars usually an Acoustic and an Electric Guitar. On this song I used an chorus effect on the electric, which gave it a very full sound. Which also probally reminds jim of boston also. Either that or my smokin guitar solo. lol ;D No harmony lines though Yea jim Ill get some lyrics up there for yea. Probally want to know what the heck is coming outta my mouth. Keep them coming guys Thanks Cameron

I think this is a good song, I liked lots of it. Great solo. But if I can be very extra critical, I feel there's a lot of uneven rhythm going on. The bass, drums and guitars all seem to be pulling the song in different directions, making the backing as a whole sound somewhat scattered. As everyone else has noted, it's all very full, but it's striking me as busy. Maybe too busy for this type of song. It's nit-picking, I know.

Cam,
I like it alot, and yeah that big guitar sound is all im interested in. But im gonna bug you, carefully but bug you nonetheless, cos although i know that you just want to get the ideas down and move on to the next project, i still want to hear the song after you have practiced it for two weeks!
so do you play these songs at the local pub? do you get up and get down?!

Hey guys
Thanks for the Comments, Critical but Comments none the less. lol. I appreciate the honesty. I'll keep that in mind mike. I think the Drums and the bass is probally doing it. Even though I thought some of the bass was pretty good. Ahh well. Someday Ill get a real drummer. Put a band together, Get some better equipment and make these songs really shine.
I'll have rehearsals like crazy, Practice for a month with the band before recording the song. That would do it I think. Now I just need a band and better equipment. I feel a G.A.S. attack coming on. Sound good Rob?
I appeciate the comments guys. Cameron

As a bass player, believe me, I know it's difficult sometimes to come up with a nice complicated part, when what's really needed is just bump-bump-bump. Yet there are times when less is more. That's when you have to fall on your sword for the good of the song.

And as we Vikings (Soren and I) are fond of saying, "Be willing to sacrifice your children". That sacrifice can come in the form of removing a favorite lyrical phrase from your newest creation or dumping a really cool guitar riff that just doesn't seem to fit.

Hey
Yep Your right mike. I make the bass line intresting to play more for myself than for the good of the song. Its gets boring playing basic root notelines. I remember in high school every1 liked my bass playing cause I could construct an intresting bass line. As where every one else chugged along 8th note root notes. But your right and I also know from experience that sometimes that aproach sounds best. I listened to the song keeping in mind what you said and noticed a couple things, that came across as alittle bit in the way. I thought you were talking about the chorus but I think that part worked pretty good. Was it the prechorus that bugged you the most??

I'll have to listen to it again and see if I can pinpoint any specific areas.

Hi Cameron, Sorry I am so far behind on my listening. My contract job has this site blocked so I can only get to listen to the songs on Friday or the weekend. This was one of my favorites of yours. The sound was very 80's rock with the vocals really bring this out. I actually thought that your musical talent on this one outweighed the lyrics of the song. As you know I am a very raw player without much knowledge of musical theory or even much recording knowledge. I didn't feel any level of overplay on your part and especially loved your guitar solo at the end. But, then, one of my biggest flaws is overplay and too much activity instead of process of elimination, so I would notice something like that anyway (lol) P.S. --- Give me some great equipment, at least a good electric guitar... wife? kids? for Christmas? Thanks for the great song. Stan

Thanks for the reply stan. Better late than never. I appreciate it alot. Theory's over rated. lol. I actually know quite abit about theory but I dont use it to much when composing/writing. I tend to follow my ears much more. But If I get stuck I might work something out. Like on the song the road is long I basically was stuck then came up with the chorus by making some chomatic movements in the melody which worked out great. So I guess its great to use both theory and the ears as a team. Some of the greatest players out there ONLY use there ears which I find amazing. Exspecially with bluesman like bb. and what not.
