how i spent being snowed in this weekend. lamplight.no-ip.org/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?p=88#88its about sea turtles.. vaguely.. ancient species of life on the planet in general. not much going on in the lyrics departyment here but it was mostly just having fun with effects used some interesting effects i recorded the drums stereo and used effects on the ps5, how the heck did i do that you say since i have to have seperate effects for both inputs.. exactly! its not super clear in the mix but listening on headphones is cool. filled up my ps5 tracks and finished up on the computer. this is not my key at all which i why i tried to drown out the vocals as much as possible.. did another neil youngish (the guitar may explode ANY SECOND, barely hitting ther right notes.. ) solo im pretty happy with. really if i could do something with the vocal..

Hey Matt!
I'll reserve final judgment until I've had a chance to play "Ancient Life" backwards. ;D
How DID you get your voice bouncing left to right like that? Haven't heard that since "number nine... number nine..."
Seriously, the music fits the sea turtle theme very well -- I can picture the flashes of sunlight peeking through in the little high pitched staccatto synth part you have going there. Very imaginative! The guitar solo sounds like stuff I used to listen to back in the psychedelic 60's.
Another excellent song!

thanks guys always appreciate the feedback. i listened in the car this am and i have to say the mix is pretty bad.. i have to keep working on it. seems sorta fuzzy.. like i just had a mic in to room and recorded a band. half that i realize is micing the drumset introduces so much extra noise into a mix than if i used midi or patternss.. ill get it if i keep at it. theres an autopan effect on the ps5 that i used. as i say micing the drums stereo using ps5 effects, one of them (inputs) was that autopan and the other was some sort of reverb or something.. so i used one vocal effect and one acoustic guitar effect to record the drums (after using compression on the mixer going in). used lotsa reverb on the basstrack (ps5's). nothing on the sythn. then i did vocals and lead on the computer and used ANOTHER effect on the computer that was a stereo "spinner" , used that at various speeds. i did all sorts of effect/mixing experiements on this song (doubling the acoustic, etc) but the basic input signals werent good enough to show the effects of all i did unfortunatly due to my poor (as yet ) recording engineer skills! ill chalk it up as another homework assignment. see, the whole problem is i dont have an outboard compressor/limiter/gate ya know?

Matt, Great synth all the way...Pink Floydish in the way that it seeps into your sub-conscience before you know it. It had me moving as slow as a turtle after I tried to get out of chair. No.... I gave up pot a long time ago. Stan

dont get me started rob. thanks stan i must admit i must have some leftover resin from youth stuck in my musical bones. Rob: i dont play w/it as much as youd think. Stan for this song it sounds like a couple synth tracks but its just one track echoing the bassline progression but this patch on the synth had all these other sounds going on all by itself its good for effects and what its made for but i wouldnt recommend it for a kb to learn on, any one of the low end yamahas pack alot of features. i dont play kb just use it in a basic way.. pick out merlody's etc..
