Its just some words of love for a girl I talked into marring me some years ago... and somehow has found a way to stay by my side as my lover, friend and strong support. I hope you like it! Gamma

Hey Gamma
Well the music was lovely. And you instruments sounds very good. The Vocals need some work. The tuning mostly. But heres the strong point. I think your a very good musician Instrumentally. And the arangment is very nice. good job. I look foward to more.

Gracias Cameron!
Yes, I do agree with the tuning on the vocals.
I did this on one take (just the vocal part) and decided to post it as it came out. This is part of an exercise I'm doing with my vocal because I have "microphone panic". I need to just let it flow and I thought that posting this and facing comments like yours (which I sincerely appreciate) would help me relax and just sing the next time.
I'll redo the vocal part and ask for your opinion again.
Today is New Year's eve so I think my voice will be in a bad mood tomorrow. I'll give it a shot on Friday.
Thanks again and I'm really glad you like my music.

Hey Gamma I can relate to the mic Fright thing. Im quite a nervous quiet person and never used to like to perform to others besides just me singing by my self. I wish you luck in this endevor. Its a hard thing to do, let people hear your work, there's alot to give away when your commited to writing songs and sharing them with others. Keep on singing in that microphone it can only get better. The more you sing with a mic the more youll become used to it. Its all fun any way, me and a buddy used to just hit the record button and ad lib chords and melodies singing what ever came out of are mouths. It was quite comical at times and genious but very imbarrasing cause it was terrible. And some freinds got there hands on that and listened ohh I thought I was going to die. ohh so embarrasing. but got me used to hearing my own voice. Which I wasnt at that point. Now theres no surpises when Im singing I KNOW what I sound like and I can work on it. Really it can only get better Still dont know where those tapes went. lol. I know thatll turn up on some tv show if I ever get famous.lol

so true i didnt mean to minimize your mic fright gamma. i had it too only a couple short yrs ago (wow time flies -ok 4 yrs ago) i wouldnt even sing in front of my wife- i was embarrassed singing ALONE!! it gets beter along with your voice itself getting better from the practice. some of the stuff i listren to that i did then sounds TERRIBLE, just average inexperienced singing.. yuk. it gets better with practice and yes cams right, a litytle bit of ourselves goes into any kind of creative expression or art its just unavoidable. but almost everybody can learn to sing pretty well i believe (ie: in tune and loud enough, etc)

nice gamma, yes id agree on the vocals, keep working on it, you have a good natural voice just need some practice and youll be sounding like a pro soon enough. as cam said instrumentatipon was great and nice mixing choices..i may lower the vocal a bit and maybe keep the strings throughout but at lower volumes when youre singing.. ya know? thats purely opinion and prefrence thoughas always. those are my toughest choices too (mixing).

Gamma,
This is what I usually do when recording vocals (requires two tracks). I sing on one track. Then sing on the other track with the fader up on the first vocal track (so I'm singing along with myself). Then I record over the first vocal track singing along with the second, and on and on back and forth.
First of all I really enjoy singing with myself (a chorus of two). Also you start to relax and get into the song more. But most important, your voice gets warmed up. That makes a big difference.
Eventually, I record a track that I'm satisfied with and discard the second vocal track.

Looks like everyone has pretty much covered this. The guitar is fine, the vocals are not. It pains me to critique vocals, not being the best singer in the world myself (I hear every clunker in my own work every time). But a little bit of work on this would pay off hugely. Plenty of emotion, but that's only half the battle. Keep plugging away!

nice on jim, ill try that. very clever.
gamma, i just want to add to "mic fright" subject. i always wanted to sing as child, but too frightened. along my travels i shared a flat with a fantastic guitartist who would try and get me to sing along with him after a few beers (i was about 24,old enough not to be shy, and generally im not..especially now!) but i just couldnt do it. then long story short i went to university and formed a band...first gig i got completely drunk and cannot remember it all. second time i feignted in the wings waiting to go on...the band nealry started kicking me to wake up...i got up sang a few verses and then played the harp middle 8 and my mouth was so dry from fear that it stuck to my tongue...!!!i couldnt remove it till the end of the song! DONT GO ON STAGE WITHOUT A LARGE BOTTLE OF WATER!! (btw led zep launched themselves from a stage in surrey university and our band won the summer 96 rock competition on that stage!! things are better now,but only cos i have special techniques...like imagining that the audience is full of people with no clothes on!! or that each member of the audience (or anyone listening to the recording) has been replaced with a vegetable...personally brussel sprout works for me...after all its about having fun!! ;D
good luck!

Gracias! Muchas Gracias!
Guys, you have not the slightest idea of how important this comments are being for me. I mean this very seriously.
I couldn't record these days because I had my parents in law staying with us for a few days. Today I will give it a second shot and would really appreciate if you take the time to re-listen and critic.
I'm very persistent, I just hope you have the patience to walk me into the stage.

Hey guys! I just uploaded the song again www.soundclick.com/bands/6/gammamusic.htmI did this on 2 takes using every bit of advice you gave me (thanks again). I don't want to correct it using the 1000+ takes I used for my other two songs because I feel that's not the way the go if I want to sing well. Thanks again to each of you and I really look forward to your critics and advice again. Gamma

Hey Gamma.
I listened again and I noticed an improvement. I Have a couple questions so I can see what your doing that might affect your singing and some advice too.
Are you using the headset that came with the PS5 or are you using a Different mic and headphones?
If you are using Separate headphones and a separate mic, try leaving one of the headphones off of one ear so you can hear the music and the pitches that you’re singing. Singing with head phones on is often misleading even if you can hear your self through the head phones its often hard to hear where your voice is in pitch. And is misleading cause every thing mostly sounds ok until you takes the phones off and listen through some real speakers. (In my experience)
I’ve noticed your singing is flat and the above might help alleviate some of that. Can’t tell where you are if you cant hear yourself. Imagine standing on top of the note instead of hanging on the bottom of the note. Try some basic scale singing exercises. Do re me fa so la ti do and such. You obviously have an good ear (In no way could you possibly be tone deaf) Cause your instrumentation has such good pitch and hit all the right notes that way for sure!!
Next part is more of advice then questions. The melodies in your songs especially this one. Have some quite complex melodies, and some interesting runs and almost some riffing around too. My advice to you would be to simplify the melodies that you’re singing. And concentrate on the cores of singing. Such as your Tone, Pitch and Diction (Singing coming out clearly, with good articulation).
Basically you got to learn how to walk before you can run. Right now I think your trying to run a little bit. Great singers who can do all that riffing around and those fancy runs that we all love. Spent years and years training there ears and voices to do that but spent along time learning how to sing properly and they did that with simple melodies and worked there way up to where they are now.
I know that I’m not the best singer and have lots to learn still too!! And I’m glad you’re so open to advice and the critique! And I hope it helps I’m happy to help.

Gracias Cameron!
I had just found out about the head seat thing and most of the improvement came out of leaving the fader down (of the voice track) while I sang so I wouldn't hear my voice from the headset.
For some strange reason I strongly beleive I will sing very well. I know it sounds crazy and sometimes (or most of the time) I feel like I'm making a fool out of my self here on this board, but the belief (and the desire) are there permanently.
If you agree, I would like to have this song as a personal challenge. I'll tell you (and every one else who wants to help) every time I re-record the vocal and you can coach me along.

Sooner or Later you will be able to sing, just keep practicing and keep improving your ear, as long as you have a good ear you will be able to keep in tune.
