Yes, I can hear how the EQing helped carve out spaces for the vocal and guitar, without having to push up the volumes. Very good. Is the overall volume slightly less than the previous mix? I can't tell.

Cool. Yes, overall volume is slightly lower. The gary numan mix was mixed with output levels half way between the two marks (on the ouput meter). Sometimes this level ends up sounding distorted on my work computer, so i thought i would preempt this problem with someone elses computer by dropping the level on the new mix to just above the first mark. Whats your opinion on this subject of final mix output levels Mike?

It's been my experience that you should aim for just above the first 'break' in the meters. New users consistantly fail to get enough volume, so keeping levels just above the break seems to be the best way to avoid that. It's difficult in the PS5 since it doesn't have compression, to keep peaks (mainly in vocals) from spiking mixes (the mp3 conversion itself does this anyway to a degree, but it's too late by then). But as you've seen, using EQ will allow you to get a clearer mix with more sound, without having to crank up volumes to a disasterous level.
Also, proper use of the master fader duing an mp3 mixdown will let you fine tune the line between not enough and too much volume. Harking back to my comments in General Comments about craftsmanship, learning to improve your mixes is just one of those things you get with experience. You've seen this in the past 24 hours with the song in question.

Re-reading my comments above, I should add that being just above the break is the minimum level you should have. My final mixes for the past several months have usually been well above that.

Yeah, this mix falls into the "minimum" catagory as you specify. I shall certainly experiment with this aspect in the next project.
[just listening to "dead flowers". Your voice doesnt need any effects. I can hear the level is a lot higher than "minimum". But you know what, im getting some distortion in regular positions on this computer. just surplus info for you. I really like the cover though, you got mick in there too!!]

Great guitar feel, I like the contrast from the guitar on the left with the one in the right, which guitar do you have or well which pick ups do you use.
I like it it's sound acid.
Great song.
