I wrote a new song today and decided to go unplugged (whatever that means). Did an acoustic guitar track miked in 2 spots, and 2 vocals that I tried to keep in sync. A couple of untimely notes on both guitar and vocals, but overall I was pretty pleased. If you have time for comments please send them forward. Stan www.soundclick.com/bands/8/stangulleymusic.htm

(vocs!) big improvement in the vocals department.. good mix level of the vocals this time with the rest of the music. stan this is my favorite of yours so far. i really like that drawn out note at the end youre singin. welp gotta go back and lay on the couch and blow my nose some more (its been and exciting 2 days with the flu)

Hey Matt, I had the same thing a couple of months ago. No fun at all. Lots of sleep needed so take care. Yeah, I actually miked my Fender amp for the guitar track, and almost used correct grammer ('not' instead of 'ain't', that kind of diff maybe?). Thanks for the complements about vocals. I guess that is one of the categories where all men are not created equal. But if Kris K. tried, then maybe I can too. Stan

Hey stan,
Nice lyrics, very thoughtful christian words. I really like the melody, the doubled vocal track works well in spots, I think timing is really key in doing a technique like this, when the timing is good the effect is nice but when its not on, it fights with each other. Just something to watch for, all imo of course. Good work, on the guitar, I thought the intro was a tad long but it was good acoustic work very very good, the voice is getting better stan! Keep working on it!

I agree the intro could be a bit shorter, but it's not the end of the world. I think your vocals (when you work on them) are better than you think. Relying less on effects and more on just getting a good sound seems to be the way to go, as we can see here. As with your recently remixed hymm, I'd like to hear more instruments in the backing (maybe just bass and flute on this one?). It's a pretty song, and has a nice appeal to it.

Thanks Mike for the advise. I may try to force myself to sit down and really concentrate more on vocals. It is always the last tracks I add so I'm usually happy just to finish them up. I don't have a real good attitude with my vocals but maybe if puttimg out some extra effort something will come about. I get water-logged after a couple of takes and tired of trying, but if first you don't succeed keep drinking water, Mt. Dew or something to keep the mouth from gluing shut.

Blimming ell! this is great. for me this is like cams quantum leap earlier in the year, this is way ahead of anything i have heard from you stan. im going for my second listen, infact its going on my mp3 player. (gotta agree with cam and mike here, but let me reword it....i expected the first verse to start a bit earlier than it did...(!)
GREAT WORK. no doubt in my mind, best so far. or rather its a second date!

Enough about me. When is Rob's next release? I've already got a CD of 5 of your earlier songs! Stan
