in the spirit of roger's christmas gift song to us all last holiday season this lil ditty i dedicate to all you folks. workin hard at the music but having a little fun too. i ewas listenin to some straight ahead rockin bassdrum in a lou reed song and thinkingh.. gawd i can do that cant i?? so i recorded a pretty good take in similiar timing.., and was messin w/guitar sounds /melodies to add to it and i had the mic in just the right place wityh just the right effect and i had grunge!! by accident.. so i whipped up some lyrics and made em fit so to speak and wala.. its straight ahead drums/electric guitar garage rock sound and then a little humor. as trhis was never meant to be a "song" really.. ask me the recording details i love sharing if you're curious. www.soundclick.com/bands/3/mattlmusic.htm

I like it. I have to confess that I'm a mattl fan. He's got an eerie way of writing. Must be that lack of sunshine prevalent in northern climes.
Needs a remix to bring up the vocals, and a little more high end EQ on the cymbals. Ending sucked, but that's only one man's opinion.

"Accidental Grunge"? Well, it does evoke the sound of Neil Young fronting Nirvana. This would be one of those B-sides that never make it onto the actual album. Not that it's bad. . . just quirky. Glad I got to hear it before it gets yanked and reworked and/or dropped, like so many Matt songs seem to do.

accidental grunge it is!! i knew i needed a better title you dont mind do you?
well since some of you seem to like the lyrics maybe i wont demean myself at the end with humor ill try a new shorter ending..
the vocals are all good volume (maxed out) except for one line ill try to ride that fader
update pending.. (not too many as you say its just a quirky little number but im pleased with it!)

abbreviated ending (wife likes!), boosted vocals
Spike: yes i mic'd it.. the rythm I mic'd with one condenser mic, the lead recorded with a cheap shure vocal mic near the amp and the large diaphragm condenser out in the room. i have a hard time getting the sound i want on electric guitar.. this isnt even close to what i wanted but.. only so many hours in the day ya know?

seriously, you are on a roll with these instantaneous songs lik we spoke about a few weeks ago where the lyrics just BOOM! . . . i personally thought the \vocals a good level for the overall moodof the song . . . but you know what . . . i think if you just tinkered with it a bit you just might have something there . . . so, in which order was everything recorded . . guitar, drums, korg?
AND HF!!!!!!!! YOU GO FROM HAVING A HOLE IN YOUR FOREHAD TO LOOKING A LITTLE NAUSEOUS . . . . AND ARE THOSE SAFETY GLASSES ON THERE BUD, DON'T WANT ANY BROKEN STRINGS PUTTING YOUR EYE OUT HUH . . .

i think of myself as pretty positive too... huh.. music must be the secret release, unconscious outpouring. or maybe im depressed and i dont know it. well thanks for listening guys great to get the feedback. oh right.. rog the order:
drums just for practice (micing AND playing practice: i close mic'd the snare/hat something i havent been doing.. you can hear it in the mix i think its better) then i thought they were ok so i grabbed electric to lay something on that. then the guitar synthesizer for the "bass". its actually a oboe or some such thing.. cello? sound not sure you could probably tell me. i figured it'd be a good alternative to the bass sounds i have in the guitar synth (only about 3 useable) without a bass i look forward to putting a few more exotic instruments down as bass alternbatives in the future and finally putting some of these sounds to use.. then this am finished up words and did the lead takes inbetween on the same track. i love autopunch.
no korg on this.
i did driving home and a couple other this way too.. where the music completely inspired the words.. this is what appears to be happening with me for the "easy to write" songs. (drivin, playmore)

Phenominal lyrics. Are the songs on this forum significantly improving? I'm gettin' um free[glow=red,2,300]MP3s[/glow] while they last.
