Hey guys I have a new song up on my page,
This one is a bit of a departure but is in the same vain of rock as 'Cant Tear Us Apart'. Kinda bluesy rock but its different from my normal songs.
I'd really appreciate your thoughts guys!
Link is in the signature, thanks again, Cameron

Hey guys, Thanks for listening, Im glad you liked it holzra, rob man I dont hear the country in this one! What sounds country about lol. Yea it takes a little while for her to feel better thus smile, I can see the what you mean that is a bit weak compared to the rest of the song but its open to interpretation, I think people like to figure out meanings in song and ussually that will change form person to person but I see your point Thanks guys, keep em comin guys! I don't see how this is a departure - it's the typical Latmat formula of mellow intro/verse, ballsy chorus with lots of overdrive. The one thing I really like is the acoustic bits after the chorus with the 'Ma-a-a-ke' decending vocal line. The intro reminds me of Marshall Tucker, the choruses remind me of Deep Blue Something, and overall it's a lot like Can't Tear Us Apart. Overall the song is okay. If anybody else did it, I'd say it's a great tune, but as a Latmat number, it's average. Think about ways to vary the formula somewhat - hard verse/soft chorus; waltz tempo; do your version of a Matt tune. Experiment with form.

cam i finally got to listen, yea your production and timing is great id guess you been doing this for 5 yrs or so.. how longs it actually been?
i have to agree its straight ahead latmat.. nothing wrong with that , ya gotta do what ya gotta do.. unless your're out to purposely try some new things??
i like the way youre doing stuff thats not your natural vocal key.. and youre getting it. i understand thats good practice (so my wife says).
pretty nice acoustic tone.. a little too much piezo for my taste but then i am not so great at getting what i want either im just commenting on likes/dislikes. its actually a good tone..really balanced. its just my taste
i been meaning to ask is french your native language ? you seem to have such a grasp on english im just curious.

Hey guys, Its a bit of a departure I have about 28 songs ans only 2 of them are in this style, but its obviously me. Im just belting it out more, and basically a harder vocal style of singing. Matt its been about, 10 months now that Ive been writing song and recording them, Ive been playing guitar for about 3.5 years. Yes D major is a little weird for me, ussually I do songs in G/Em. Yea my strings abre brand spankin new on the acoustic, so there quite bright I like em just a bit worn in. I have no Idea what piezo is, is that a pickup? lol I think youve asked me this before no I am not french cant even say a sentence of french. Western canada is pretty much 100% english also there is a huge difference in how we speak compared to eastern english speaking canadians as well. Thanks for listening guys, mike your correct I should try to do more variations in formual, it works for me quite well and Ive got too comfortable, I need to step out the box a bit. I'll make an effort, hopefully something great will come of it! Ohh yea did anybody notice the drum pauses??? First time ever, I think. Cameron

Cameron, yes you do have a formula, and it's great! I've suggested this before, but I'll suggest again. Do a song with some backing vocals! (or have you and I missed it?) With your steady voice it could be dynamite. Guarenteed to at least redecorate your box I too like the 'Ma-a-a-ke' decending vocal line. Jim

I was going to say what Mike already said, "Marshall Tucker Band" with a little heavier edge.
In the final second, if the last fractional echo of the guitar extended just 1/4 of a second longer, I would have sworn that it was a commerical album. The drums sounded live the way they were mixed in.
You are getting there quick. Stan

cam piezo- the cheaper built in pickups in acoustic/electric guitars.. (non microphone./.) i have one for sale, i ll sell it to ya cheap! i guess they work by vibration... different from a microphone sound on a acouctic guitar/instrument. usually a LOT more trebly.. i have one on my seagul (candanian!) acoustic and it sounds good mixed with a real mic.. i think roger's been doing it that way too i think he said once

Hey matt, the pick up in my acoustic Id have to say is'nt cheap! But I did put brand spankin new strings on, the ones with the coating on them? anyways they are super bright and I may of added to much treble on the eq, so thats what your hearing its not that its cheap. Ahh well ehh, that will teach me to record with brand new strings!
Where do your put a piezo pick-up?

oops!! didnt mean it like that!! maybe to rephrase: to me it can be cheap sounding JUST using piezo without a mic to warm up the tone.. just opinion and im SURE it wasnt cheap my acoustic has a thin strip under the saddle.. some of the acoustic/electrics like the parker fly's have em in the saddle too.. i havbe an "add on" on from seymour duncan called soundspots... its 2 flat (1/2size of a dime) discs attached to wires thats attached to a gtr cable plug for your standard gtr chord. you can move em around on the body to get different sounds with something like that.. ya know just talkin about this reminds me of something else i tried and am interested in again.. ghonna go post in gadgets/gizmos (my 2nd home)
