Turned off the reverb? Good show. You're one of the few on this site that can actually sing (sorry guys, but I'm right there with you). No need to muck it all up with cheesy effects (wonder if I'll get any grief from this comment?)
P.S. - What happened to your bag? It's gone.

Here's some grief for you: Reverb is certainly not a cheesy effect. Frequently overdone, yes, but in the right hands, it adds depth and warmth to a vocal (or other instruments). Try listening to some of the PS5 drum sounds without any 'verb on them, and they sound stale and brittle.

possibly! you know it all comes down to opinion though. i got ejected from the first band i was in. i went to one of their gigs a couple of years later and met the lead singers parents (lead singer used to be my backing singer) in the crowd. the mother turned to me and said infront of everyone "oh, youre the one who couldnt sing." what doesnt kill you makes you stronger, right?
yeah...where did i leave my bag? cant get onto soundclick either...and while we are the point...this usergroup lets me in only occasionally cos there are too many users on line when i try to get on...so i shall take mikes advice and log into yahoo every now and then frmo now on...

You know how to turn off the intruments? Scroll down to drums push the right arrow and scroll down to Rev: and turn the wheel to your disired amount of veb its pretty simple, the tg reverb is not controlled by the general effect one. hope this is understandable as I cant remember exact names.

Agreed about reverb. I should have started a new paragraph.
Sorry, Mrs. Walsh (6th grade English teacher).

reverb!!! reverb!! its beetter than sliced bread.. i have a not so ideal recording room (carpets, small square, bare brick walls, lotsa windows) and i been experimentiing with different types of reverb to see if i can approximate better sounding rooms.
Mike have you ever heard of this being tried and/or any success along these lines or am i pipe dreaming again?

Matt, if you look at the examples of reverb settings in the Reference Manual, you'll see they try to do exactly that. Lots of money is spent on acoustic engineers to replicate authentic reverbs and famous places (Carnagie Hall, Abbey Road studio #2, etc.). I'd love for people to post custom PS5 reverb settings if they have any. I admit to being lazy enough to just using the defaults & examples. If anyone could come up with valid settings for plate reverb, echo chambers, etc., it'd be great. Rob - I had a listen to the guitar bass you've added. What do YOU think? It's your song. If you like it, I'm happy. If you want me to have a go, I could try to mimic what you've done. I'd need the files, with the guitar bass, so I could study it in isolation. Wouldn't take more than a day of my oh-so-busy life .

oh cool...reinventing the wheel yet again. primarily I use the reverbs on my behringer mixer , i often use one called "studio" and when i want to soak it on vocals and/or guitar sometmies i use a reverb/chorus effect that doesnt specify the type of verb, but its real thick. on the ps5 i use all defaults as an added little something to the final mix sometimes. the heaviest ive EVER used ps5 reverb was all defaults and return level set to 10 i think on the grunge song.
on the last couple songs i used the "studio" minimal amount of reverb on the drumtrack (while recording since we're talking ps5 here, its either there or not at all), but its hard to say im always changing so many things at once, trying to improve.

yikes reverb really is a complicated subject.
Matt, we can just leave it as it is for now then.
Mike, i like the bass, its suitable, and i liked recording it too cos i went from the gentle plucking to trashing the guitar for the chorus! but what i was interested to find from you is whether it satisfied the "oomph" requirement that you mentioned. BUT DONT WASTE ANY TIME ON IT!!
Well guys, thats the end of time for now! thanks for all the comments!
