I used to love this song back in the '80s so I picked up on the chords Wed. night and tried to vocals last night. Unfortuneately the vocals have their problems again. I took the Dan Ackroyd Blues Brothers approach since I could come close to hitting half the notes. The range was either too high or too low for me (right smack in the middle). I'm hoping when Roger gets back he can help me. Since it is a Rocky Mountain song I think he can put some real feeling to it. Ridin' The Storm Out www.soundclick.com/bands/6/leftbrainedmusic.htmP.S. - first time I ever used the PS5 Tube OD effect. Never liked it but it seemed to fit into this one. Stan

Thanks Matt,
I went ahead and re-mixed to get more bass into it. Not much I can do with the vocals but the other all sound is better.
Not using the Tube-OD effect again. I don't know what I was thinking.

well this is tight, powered. this is one of those tracks that makes me wonder how it all goes into a ps5! did you use a backing track like one of those midi files? the vocal is still increasing in ability, but like you say, roger could add to the emotion, saying that theres allready a lot of power in the guitars. cant wait to hear after rogers adds.

Thanks for listening... I used 3 guitar tracks and bass...bounced, and use a vocal track which I copy-delayed to the 4th track for stereo panning. I always seem to loose something in the bounce process for some reason even with the EQ set back to zeros on all 4 tracks. Reverb isn't added until the final mixdown. Probably need better EQ skills since that is where I seem to be cancelling some sound.
Recorded with (while I can still remember): T1- Tube OD for ryth guitar T2 - Classic Rock 2 (alterate ryth) T3 - Fusion 2 effect set at (100 - default is 600??) for lead T4 - bass no PS5 effect Bounced to T1 and T2 and then vocals.
Since I did the vocals last I had no idea how hard it was going to be to hit the range unitl I tried to sing it. Then I knew there was no way, so I lowered my voice to the lowest range I could try. Very experimental, just using some different effects I've never tried. Fusion 2 seems to add the tightness to lead tracks but you have to dial down from 600 to under 200 or the delay is way too extreme.
Thanks again for listening, Stan
