For a while in the summer of '67, the world seemed to be a beautiful place. The illusion didn't last long, leading to the tumultous era of the late Sixties. To kick-off our tribute, we are offering three songs that epotimized the center of the counterculture in 1967 - San Francisco. Now playing:San Francisco by Scott McKenzie www.soundclick.com/bands/2/summeroflovemusic.htmPlayers:JimDurand - organ GKHead - bass Havin' Fun - guitars, vocal, PS5 drums Coming soon:July ... San Franciscan Nights by Eric Burdon and The Animals August ... San Francisco Girls by Fever Tree But for now, grab your love beads and step back in time with us to relive the groovy vibes from the Summer of Love. You're beautiful, baby!

Not bad, not bad at all. A difficult song to cover, and in my opinion, one of the five or ten best songs ever written by anyone, anytime, anywhere. Extra credit for Jim and his suitably trippy organ part. Groovy, baby!

Guys, nice job! Brings back many memories of that summer.
I was there! The little wife and I had just gotten married in late December 1966. We were living in South San Francisco, and every time someone would visit us from out of town, they would want to go see the "Hippies." So, we would all get in my 1967 Camaro RS and cruise the "Haight" (that's what we called the Haight-Ashbury district). Our visitors just could not believe what they saw. Ahhh, those were the days.
Thanks for the memories, BP

the electric that comes in mid song is nice! cool effect what is it? just tremolo? Something called "Cowpie" on my Digitech footpedal, which is ironic, being from Texas and all.

Excluding that I'd rate this song as one of the worst of all time, it sounds like a lot of members here really like it.
But who said my taste for music was that great anyway. Recording wise, you guys actually improved the original. I loved the balance of sound I heard and the organ was fantastic! I was listening for bass but it was very hard to make out anything. Really great mix, and excellent quality.
Sorry I can't convince myself to like the song, but I give it a 10 for everything else.

Like my Pappy use'ter say, "Everybody's entitled to their own stupid opinion." ;D
I can definitely see why one may not care for this song, especially if one were getting shot at in some foreign land, while a bunch of carefree folks were sitting around chanting, "Peace", and "Pass the pipe."
I truly like the tune. The lyrics are admittedly dated, if not naive. Heck, if one wants to delve into deep lyrics, check-out America...
"I understand that you've running from a man, Who goes by the name of The Sandman."
Sounds more like a plot for a Stephen King movie than serious music (I love the tune, mind you!).
