single note organ I'm not as crazy about; it seems a little loose in places. you got it.. recorded live on mixdown to get ONE MORE stereo track without bouncing.. i did practice it a few times (10-15) as i kept making mistakes of course Let me put a little pressure on you Matt - I know you throw these songs together almost on the spot, then spend endless hours tightening up the parts. Where are the songs that you spend hours writing? Without throwaway lyrics? The ones I assume all these 'practice' songs are for? Those are the ones I really want to hear. yea me too...... i know what you mean.. i run outta patience.. lately im getting things done in fewer takes so hopefully once i can smooth out that part of actual instrumentation i 'll spend some time. i do spend some time on lyrics usually.. i figure its onea the few areas i can do something truly original. doing all these retakes helps me fine tune lyrics too.. one thing ive done on a few songs is record all parts just to get it donw then retake everything.. one at a time.. so i get to the pointn where i have a good base and then i feel like i can slow down..

Like Stan and I were discussing in another thread, it's the nature of the beast to make the process so efficent, it's easy to get caught up in the rush. Nowadays no matter which machine I'm using (PS5 or 788), I'm taking weeks to record. And that's after however long it takes to write the stuff first. Lately I'm starting to spend more time just mixing, as it's been the area I've been speeding through the most.

Matt,
You have produced some pro-quality stuff on the PS5; especially lately. I envy your song writing skills. Just a little more refinement and I think we will be amazed. Talking about a mixing novice, you put me to shame.
I like this mix, and your keyboards filled it out better than your last mix. Your drum recording has really coming along too. You defintely don't have any problem with unique creativity, truly a strong point.
Mike's excellent point that putting quality time on songs will bring out your full potential.
Stan
