Matt,
Really like it.. I'm a real dog lover and always have been so this really appeals to me...
I liked the guitars but felt that the 2 guitar tracks were in competition in a couple of spots...
I think this would be really cool with a couple of background barks, and children laughing in the far background. Believe it or not, I think this song has lots of potential.

Advice, 5 cents, a song about your dog (Snoopy, perhaps?) .... What's next, a song about your favorite blanket?

A friend of mine can't leave takes alone. He's constantly redoing guitar parts, sometimes for months. I find it annoying as heck. His excuse is something along the lines of "As I improve, I can hear where I can do it better now". My retort is that the performance (warts and all) is a snapshot of the moment. Not that I mean do everything in one take, but when the song is done, let it go. It'd be like Mick saying, "Mmph, Satisfaction; I could really sing it now. Let's have another go at it. . . "

It's all part of the editing process. My thinking usually runs along the lines of: If I can't be bothered to finish a song, why would anyone else be interested?

stan ill pm you with a download location of what i have (2.5- you of all people must appreciate the mattl song versioning system hehehheheh), but i have given up on the song.. its too ho-hum.. i wanna do a retake thats more cheerful for starters.. sometimes i run into these OBVIOUS problems that i juist dont jave the expereince to know.. (ie, the slow tempo lends it a contemplative feel, or even sad, which is not what im going for, HELLO matt?!? at work now so i cant give you a copy but ill stick it on lamplight if youre interested.. i did get it alot better than the first ione so maybe you'll like it, officially its dead though.. ill work with the lyrics.. perhaps the same chord progression since i do like it, and a tempo change (UP) thanks you for listening and feedback and i PROMISE next time i have a song ill post it in current projects john hiatts latest album (not as good as tiki bar or perfectly good guitar or crossing muddy waters- but decent) has a great song about his dog.. check it out.. "how many times can one dog pee.." its great www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00008N6NH/qid=1090422667/sr=8-2/ref=pd_ka_2/002-4939120-2445611?v=glance&s=music&n=507846

If you can edit in a dog's bark in a couple of places (I remember one: Pink Floyd's -- Remus) but the howling was a little too extreme for me....maybe even a child's giggle might change things up. A couple of sound effects like that might bring the mood out. Just my thoughts anyway if you know what I mean. [glow=red,2,300]MYDOG 2.0! MYDOG 2.0!, MYDOG 2.0![/glow] Stan
