Did a new song this weekend about seeing God in the things that we classify as our natural surroundings. Vocals have a couple of flat places here & there but are slowly improving. The song is "You're Everywhere" www.soundclick.com/bands/8/stangulleymusic.htmStan

I wonder how it would be a key lower? It's mainly the high notes you're struggling with. For the most part it's pretty good. Like the backing vocal too. I'd lower the main vocal a bit tho, it's overpowering the backing MIDI. I can certainly hear the emotion in your voice, and that's always great.

Yea, when I got it over to the computer after I mixed it, I thought the vocals were a bit higher than it sounded on the PS5. I might try another mix later on in the week. Maybe even tonight. Thanks Mike for the comments. Vocals are a constant challenge/hassle for me. Kind of like Matt's drums. After a couple of redos I want to say, OK, that's about it for me. Maybe tomorrow.. Stan

Hey, Stan! OK -- I beg to differ on the vocal volume level. (Guys, This is STAN we're talking to here!) Stan, you usually bury your vocal so deeply in the mix that it's difficult to make out the words. This is definitely a step in the right direction! If you choose to remix with a lower vocal volume, I hope you don't lower it too much. And, Rob, after that enthusiastic review, I hate to break it to you. Sorry -- this is another cover. Charlie

Rob, I really appreciate the complement. I wish I had written it. It doesn't sound much like "Third Day" but I'm not Marc Powell either.
I did do a remix tonight, so I might have messed the vocals up by re-recording them. But I did bring the MIDI backing up some. What sounds good on the PS5 doesn't usually come down the same way on my computer, but I'm trying to learn to compensate the mix before bringing it over.
Thanks for listening, Stan

OOps, SoundClick shows this is a cover, but I didn't mention it in my original post here.
Need to be more careful about that in the future.
My appologies, Stan

I couldn't upload the mix that I wanted to post so I will repost tonight if the SoundClick uploader gets back online.
Lots of trouble with SC lately. Stan

Finally got the mix back on SC.
Filtered out a few of the sour vocal notes here and there.

Stan,
That sounds great. Good vocal level, good mix. I really like the stuff your doing with the backing vocal. That's different for you.

Thanks Jim, I really appreciate your complement. Vocals are always seem to be where I stub my toe. I just read on one of Matt's Van M. cover posts where BP always concentrates on the vocals first. I was wondering why I never got a response from him. Well enough of this saga. It started out with the normal vocals problems, climax when Rob thought it was an original, and is now filed away in the history books of my many cover attempts. If I could just get the neices and nephews, and neighbor kids out of the house for a day or two this summer I might be able to write a song or two again. Oh well, summer is almost over.... Carry on my wayward Son... Stan
