Hey! I'm back again ;D
I just recorded this new song of mine. Looking forward to some reactions on this one!!!!! I probably gonna make a new mixdown ore recording again soon cause this one is not perfect, though I think I turned out ok.
I think that maybe the vocal track is a bit low, ore is it…? I’m not sure, so please tell me!!!! I know there are some small faults in my guitar track on this one, but I didn't have time to make another take, but I probably will do when I get the time. Maybe I’m gonna make some small changes in the lyric too.
Please tell me what you think.... Hope you like!!!!!
Peter.

hey you may wanna post a link, i had to go snooping in your profile nice one. i like your voice. no offense but i must mention this its funny.. i just saw starsky and hutch (the comedy not the show) the other night and it opened with that "i cant smile without you.." song and the begining of your song has a little of that.. made me smile. thankfully the rest of the song isnt like that. did you record with metronome? if you ever want some bad real (or real bad) drums added let me know be good practice for me.. of course you have opportunity to delete them if they suck enough. anyhow.. nice effort, pretty sad..cant think of much to say about it.. its spare, what you did do sounds good OH! iu just heard the added whoomph of reverb at the end on the vocal.. i like that!! if its was just going to be voice and guitar adding that reverb all the way through would sound great if not TOO overdone

Pete,
Great vocals! Did anyway tell you that you sound a lot like John Mayer. Reminded me a little of a mellow-type Floyd tune.

Peter - I agree with Matt that the reverb at the end is good. As a demo, this recording is not bad. I also think the guitar is a bit loud compared to the vocal.
A serious problem with this song, in my opinion, is that it's very very long. 7:15 is probably not a good length for a song like this (it's longer than Hey Jude). With all the drawn out words, it becomes hard to keep focused on the music (as my wife was saying behind me, "Let the dog in!"). If you feel you can't cut any of it (and I think you can), adding more instruments becomes a must. Otherwise it just becomes a drone.

i can hear coldplay....oh yeah and radio head...i think i said this before...fantastic voice....and great talent here...
mikeys comments might seem harsh, but hes got his eyes focussed firmly on the finished product...time is a valuable commodity to people in general so its hard and maybe rude to try and tie em down for that long! (i was firghtened of going of 2 mins for the first year i was recording...) but i love the tune myself, im probably in the minority with length, i shall be sticking this on my desktop....you know it might be an idea to keep this version, and just do a "radio" version...what was it someone said...just whet their appetite, to keep em coming back for more...
saying all that though, i remember when i would go on for half an hour with a song....then again its also important to ask what the purpose of the song is....i get the feeling you are just enjoying creating and playing with it, learning it, rather than looking for a single...im rambling...
keep it coming lad, you have a lot of great music in ya!

Thanks for the comments guys ;D Mattl, Thanks for adding the link, I forgot.. I didn't use a metronom. I tried, but I just didn feel that it was working, so I dropped the idea. Still interested in addind drums then? I think I will try to do a mixdown with more reverb all the way truh as you suggested ;D Sgulley, no one have ever told me that I sound like John Mayer but thanks, I guess. Don't know his music that well, but I think his voice is pretty cool.. Mcarp555, I don't know how this song turned out to be so long, WeIrD, but I did I don’t know how to change that. There’s only three verses, so unless I'm gonna changes the melody, I don't see how to do it... Any suggestions?? I might gonna add some more instruments and make some changes ore add some lyric... Rob, glad you mentioned Radiohead ;D I LOOOOVE RADIOHEAD!!! Your right I didn't try to make a radio fitted 3min song with this one. I just wanted to do a rough recording to capture the melody. I might gonna do another more suitable recording when I get the time.

I'd drop that for a start. Cut out every line you repeat, or only repeat it once each time. Also a lot of words are held for loooooonnngggg times, so you could limit that as well. You don't have the lyrics posted on Soundclick, but I'm sure it could be edited down.

mikes the ginsu master of slice and dice editing.. hiyeeeeaaaaaaaaahhhh (whooomph) well if you wanted me to try adding drums to something theres no metronme to you might as well just let me shoot you it would be less painful. really. i have a hard enough time with the click.. i just couldnt - trust me. next time or if you re-record it with click ill be happy to try IF youre not in a hurry i just offered on something ewlse and i dont actually have much music time these days

It wouldn't be hard on the next song (or remake of this one), to simply dial up a pattern, mute everything but the drums, and set VerseA to 350 or something, then play along. Later it would be easy to either edit the drum pattern to fit the song, or have the metronome for live drums. Obviously when you hear someone on a record just playing acoustic, they've got a click track going on in their headphones.
