I got home early, about 3 this afternoon, and started rumaging through the MIDI site that Rob posted yesterday.
I quickly stumbled across an old Tom Petty classic that I liked so I downloaded it, threw in some guitar tracks, did a Tom impersonation, and wala!!!!
Well let's not go overboard. It is posted in my classics SoundClick site. The link is in my signature at the bottom of the post.

Went ahead and remixed this morning because the vocals seemed too loud.
P.S. -- no bird tweets at the end.

Okay for a quick and dirty version (the vocal is not bad), but I really hate that tubby sounding kick drum. It's really annoying. I know it's part of the MIDI file and you can't do much about it, so no points deducted. Was the solo part of the SMF as well?

I'm with you Mike. The drums really didn't fit this MIDI at all. It sounds like a circus organ with a big bass drum pounding in the background. Just what you would expect for free. But, it did keep the time and keep things in sync. Did I do the solo? I don't know. The only solo I remember was the circus organ in the middle, so no, I didn't do that, Campbell's solo is done with slide so probably not. Thanks for listening. One of those afternoon ventures. Stan
