what's wrong with me? (I can say these things since scotts on vacation)
I take a perfectly good greasy acoustic blues and it ends up depressing.. well i know YOU guys arent surprised heheheheheh . i decided to mess with some dropped d tuning which i rarely have ever done, and stumbled on a great riff that im SURE is a chris whitley song , but... im sure its not exact. i decided to stay away from drums its driving me insane.. did an eggshake as the last track, even that i decided to keep way down in the mix only noticeable if you pay attention.. but converting to mp3 brought it up more in the mix than i have it.. trying to do some experimenting with sounds and instruments.. , synth and acoustic guitar.. (??) electric guitar, etc.. earlier i tried micing bongos: one mic and one mic hooked up to the vocoder on the microkorg KB.. cool sounds but i had to dump it cause i cant play the bongos either
rob this is the ibanez jazzbox recorded direct through my korg guitar effects and judicious verb/chorus combo on the mixers effects.. the korg (older ax1000g) effect was a mild overdriven sound.. it was late couldnt do any micing.. i thought it wasnt a bad tone for going direct without a direct box. certainly woulda been better miced but you can hear its a distinctive sound..
i did the vocal/acoustic "live" trying to get as much track real estate as possible as usual.. i figured the vocal/lyrics on this werent so key as to record them seperate.. re: the lyrics not my best certainly but it says what i wanted it to.. speaking of which as a warning this song has the "f" word in it for those who dont wish to hear that.
this was partially done on ps5, partially on a free multitrack package on computer. ended up doing the last tracks direct on computer but all through the ps5 using its noise suppression
this brings up a point mike- as yet another item to put in your "beyond the ps5" article (which may be there already). but i was thinking people who use the computer or anything else in addition to the ps5 could use the ps5 as a means of collaborating.. recored the song on the ps5 for someone to take it and add their track. when theyre done you can reimport the ps5 track(s) to your DAW/computer or whatever.. a thought as i was thinking i wish i had bass for this..
1.54 removes some of the busy electric and tones down the synth
