Wow...
that made me stomp my foot and almost play along.
Is it just me, or do you have a huge Springsteen voice?
I liked it.
I thought you were from Alberta, but you are from Coloradus.
nice

I agree. Very springsteenish - not just your voice but the tune also. I like it. Yes, you need more band behind you. Roger, I notice you didn't double your vocal on this one. Also it's a slightly different singing style for you. I really like it! Jim

Springsteen all the way, and I was thinking that before I read the previous posts. Vocals are very clear. Nice clean mix, and excellent lyrics. I was also thinking if you only had Melloncamp's violenist for just a track, she would put you on the charts (not the SC charts) I've liked lots of your songs, but this one has all the ingredients. A song with real meaning and feeling. Stan

Yes, certainly worthy of further development. A solo or middle eight to break it up in the middle wouldn't go amiss either.

Hey Roger! Agreed on the Springsteen soundalike -- same thing I thought on "57 Chevy." Put a little piano and horn section on it, and you'll have another "Tenth Avenue Freeze Out"! You sent me on an Internet search to figure out your title reference. Like several of your songs, I've had to give it a few listens before I understand what its about. I like that -- gives me the feeling of some intellectual substance to the song. I understand what you're saying about the song length. IMHO, Mike's suggestion of adding a middle section would actually help that. To me, what makes a song seem too long is lack of development over the duration of the song. Add enough variation and development either in lyrics (Dylan's "Visions of Johanna" or "Like a Rolling Stone") or musical structure ("Stairway to Heaven" or "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes"), and even a six or seven-minute song can remain interesting throughout. Another good song, Roger! Looking forward to seeing how it develops. Charlie

echo, jim, mike, stan, and charlie . . . . thanks so very much . . . . was telling matt i never figured out all the springsteen references i have received over the past year . . . . so, shamelessly, i decided to see if i could write a "springsteen" song . . . . shameless i know, but what the heck . . . . just don't tell bruuuuuuce . . . .
so what did you find out on your search charlie? needless to say, kerouac is one of my all time favorites . . . i think he is the old man who says the whole world is dieing . . . . and his feelings changed so much over a short life . . . . and i understand about length, if there is substance, which needs to be further developed, then it can hold an audience . . . .
biggest mistake was not have a couple of beats between the verses and going into the chorus . . . will fix . . . . smeedo, you out there . . . . i can writea break just perfect for your sax . . . .
once again, thanks for the feedback . . . .
