I've had my PS5 for over a year now, before I wrote a single song. I was digging through some old trash on my computer and found this song, along with two others. It was the second thing I recorded...one take for the guitar and vocals, and the rest is poorly programmed. But hey, its strange and kinda nice. It's called Psychonaught www.perfunction.com/fatch/PSMIX.MP3 I don't think I knew how to EQ at the time...

Yeah, I'd say it's a pleasantly weird atmosphere. The mix could be improved upon, but certainly not too bad for a second attempt. The drone effect behind the guitar lends a nice touch.
Matt, this might be right up your alley!

Hey Fatch, I enjoyed your Mex-style acoustic guitar riffs, with the high-moody vocals, and also the backing sounds are real good.
For some reason I was expecting a mood change just after each verse, like Nirvana/Creed. I big drum track to pop in with a distored Les Paul, and then back into the quiet sections. Kind of catch your listener off guard.
Really enjoyed your post. Want to hear some more.

Thanks for the replies, all. Sgulley, I was thinking the same thing. In fact, just a few days after I recorded the song, a friend suggested a hard drum track somewhere in there. I never really bothered to complete the song, but if I do, there will be a nice and hard drum/guitar/bass change after the lines "closing in" stop repeating. Thanks again for the input.

Fatch -- I don't get to spend much time here, but was trolling a little and heard this song. Just wanted to tell ya I really dig it. You ever listen to Ween? This reminded me of them immediately -- I'm a huge fan. If you're not familiar with them, I highly recommend checking em out. This song sounds like some of their early stuff off The Pod. Again, cool tune. Btw, I'm soooooo glad it didn't bust into some loud screaming Creed-like thing.

Skulpter-I don't get a chance to browse this place very often either, though I've been checking almost daily for the past week. I am very familiar with ween, yes:). I'd seen them once about 2 years ago, but didn't really start listening to the albums until this year. They are the stuff! We should have a boognish emoticon for all message boards;)
ps-the fact that you thought of ween strikes me as a great compliment

Another thing-if I were to add to the song with the hard drum track in there, it would be more like Buckingham Green than Creed (*shudder*)....

I feel the N e e d f o r C r e e d !!!!!!!!
What I really meant was a change in intensity/tempo would be nice. Very similar to what you were saying. My son has one Creed album but I've seldom listened to them. Seen a video or two on VHF.
So:

It occured to me after I posted that your song did sound more like the Mollusk than the Pod. Any other stuff I can listen to? ;D Hail the Boognish! ;D
