I remember Matt talking about his dropped "D" stuff so I brought my low E down a step and just starting messing with some sounds. At first I did an acoustic track and then pick some acoustic lead. I wanted to change the tempo of the song as it went into the Chorus part, so I then added a Distored Guitar on Track 3. Still not satified with the mix, I decided to finally add a Strat ryth. track on T4. Did a bounce, and then added a stereo vocal track on the 2 empty tracks.
After the final mix last night, I feel pretty satified with it. Would love to hear it will read drums. Jim?
Hope you get the chance to listen, and comment.
Thanks, Stan

You've been listening to Objecks again, haven't you? I like the dynamics of this - the contrast between the loud and soft parts. Like the drums fading in and out. It's an ambitious little tune. The vocal sounds a little 'boxy', and I'm not sure what to do about that. Great title, too.

Vocals are always the big challenge and seem to make it or break it. The good thing is that they can easily be redone. I'm hoping if Jim participates with live drums, and then I will redo the vocals and really take my time; since I don't think I would get a volunteer vocalist.
Thanks Mike, as always, for taking your time to listen. Where's HF hiding (that rascal)?

Stan, I first listened to this song when I received your message about doing drums. For some reason I thought it was a cover! Good tune! As I said in my IM back to you, I'd love to do drums! The dynamics will be fun. As a drummer there's nothing better than having a point in a song where you've been playing softly and then suddenly you get real loud! Jim

"Epic" Had to look that up in the word processor: heroic, ambitious, classical... Don't know how I arrived at any of that but sure appreciate the complement. Thanks for listening, and thanks Jim for doing the drums! Stan

I did a remix on this because I thought the vocals were a little over-bearing and hiding some on the lows and highs off the guitar tracks.

hey stan i cant quite remember but this is definitely better.. sits better in the mix
last night when myself, you and roger were online (and roger was wasting bandwidth posting silliness) it struck me as odd... you were the first person i ever did a collab with (my neil young cover of a cover on broadway), and rogers first collab was driving home.. peculiar or just another day at the ps5ug? you decide. epic.

I forgot to ask for a Bass player, Since Jim is going to play live drums on this I could really use a bass track to turn up the intensity Anyone interested? Stan

Yeah I didn't think much about that song until you posted it with a cool uniqueness and style that really stood out. I also remember thinking, man I like this guy's voice (70's style sound like Neil Young or America). Broadway was one of my first collab projects also, outside the Dylan project that HF started. I remember laying the lead track and really over-playing. But I guess too much sound data is better than not enough (isn't that what sliders are used for; cut out the unwanted noise ). Anyway, that was about my only contribution to the "Road project" except the song I did with Collin. Or, did it even meet the road qualifications? Can't remember that far back. I liked your final mix on that one. May go back and even listen to BW today. I also remember "Running Down a Dream" where you did some vocals, which would have been a good road song. Anyway, maybe we should try another one soon since its getting close to our anniversery date. We should try one once a year anyway. ;D Stan

Broadway was one of my first collab projects also, Stan oh, and reading some of my notes on lamplight, it was my third song with lyrics.. (the 3 of us were online last night) 3 is 1/2 of 6, which is 1/3 of 666, and last i checked we're coming up on our 666th member here. too many horror movies ? on broadway turned out perfect exceopt for MY big timing mess up

I don't know Matt, I just listened and your guitar part sounds really good. As far as the lead, the sychronization was a bit off, and the tone quality of the Arbor Strat was not as clean as the Fender.
I'm spoiled now, but wish I had the Arbor Strat back to take on flights while I am traveling (yuk) another not so good thing about my new job. The Arbor was built like a semi truck, and who cares about heat, scratches, etc. Still, the teenager that bought it, loves it so I'm happy it found a good home.

I just posted a new mix with Jim's drum track. I don't know how the mix sounds through your speakers but it definitely added intensity to the song. Thanks Jim for the help.
