I listened to some of the new songs (not all). Like the first batch, I think the songs are very original, which is great. The progressions, the lyrics are super. The Hanging Tree is one of the best - it's like Blair Witch set to music. Some things I'm not so keen on, like the balloon sound on Dirt Farmer (the rest of the song is pretty good), and the mix on Cold Axe (the vocal is a bit loud). I'd like to hear some more experimentation with the vocal style, as when you listen to several songs in a row there's not much variation. Even a song like Prayer has the same vocal fx as all the other songs, even tho in terms of style it's very different from all the rest. Still, if it works for you, who am I to differ?

carwash is just awesome. man you will have cult following if you keep this up .
about the baloon sound my feeling is its excellent, just a bit too loud in the mix. what a wonderful idea, you even get the right note out of the baloon, just incredibl;e (is it sampled? i guess thats not really cheating but ...) you sound like a hispanic tom waits very cool. i also agree some vocal variation would be nice. ecxcellent ending , love it

Mike, Moocho thanks there for taking the time to give my stuff a listen and for the feedback. Yea the ole vocals have a limited range, mostly due to wear and tear, awhiskey or 2 or 3, and moocho abuse while indulging in my youth. Or something like that. Anyway you said the magic word that I think most of us look for in doing this thing of songwriting and recording. Original. Oh and by the way I enjoy reading your posts on music theory, so please do keep it up. Sahib

matt, No the balloon sound isn't sampled. It's me. I somehow can just make that sound. Gifted huh? In case anyone was wondering, even the dog barking on Danny's "Tell Me What That Means" is a real dog. My ole dog Bart. He's a Bassett Hound, Beagle mix. I guess that makes him a Bagel. He also does a little line there at the end of "Witchy Voodoo Woman" You have to really listen for it but it's there. Just wanted to give credit where credit was due. Sahib.

Correction. Bart is on the end of "Kicking You Around" not "Witchy Voodoo Woman"
