Wrote a song today (really for my wife), that centers around the way we face life together each day at a time.
This is an initial cut that I may record again when I get Band in a Box. It was a quick attempt just to demonstrate the song's initial idea and flow.
Did "Little Wing" effect on lead, and used the 70's Rock Pattern on the PS5.
Feedback is always appreciated. Stan

stan this is a good song. of course theres the obvious productiopn cleanup that could happen, but that asside: sounds like it wants to be faster, some tempo confusion.. but thats gone later in the song, maybe its just the gtr in beginning. i like the feel and message. your wife must be getting pretty proud of your vocal progress! this is sounding so natural! i wish i could do something so positive. my tday was a bit disapointing due to certain family not showing up.

Three songs in a week, Stan? What is it with you and Sahib and Rob lately? As you've seen me say before, demos can't be judged on quality. Good thing, as this is a great song, terrible recording. But the idea it contains is certainly worth developing when you get BIAB up and running. I agree with Matt that maybe it could be a little bit faster. It might be difficult to snap out the lyrics if you speed it up too much, but it's worth a try. At over 5 minutes, it would help shorten it as well.

Stan, Tell it like it is brother. Great lyrics, and oh so true. Could be shortened a bit, but don't know how and still get in the lyrics. Could possibly speed it up just a tad. Other than that a fine song. Sahib

Thanks for the feedback. I will plan to do this one again then. I wasn't even thinking speed when recording, but it sounds like speeding it up is the thing to do.
I did dial the backing in after the fact, and I my lyrics drifted from the beat of the song in the middle pretty obviously. Now that I have the song in my head I can hopefully clean up the glitches.

I did a remix but I think this is becoming an iterative process if for the long term. May need version numbers like Matt uses.
I speed it up and shortened it but the vocal track definitely needs work, and the lead could be better.
I posted the song under a different name: "Only Shared By Two," which was suppose to be Only Shared By Few.
Did my first Band-In-a-Box MIDI backing for the mix.

Without playing the first version again, it seems quite a bit faster than before. What about your experience with BIAB? Tell us your impressions.

Thanks Matt for the encouragement and your input. There are definitely still some problems with it, but I'll get some time off during Christmas to pull old songs out of the closet and try again.
Mike, my experience with BIAB is nill. Never used it until yesterday. I messing with things like Win2000 not automatically enabling my MIDI device, etc. but finally got the BIOS straightened out and it can using syth, etc.
My first impression is very good and it is easy to enter sheet music with and switch different sytles and instruennts around. But, it has so many feature that you can get lot in the forest.
One thing I am going to do it take an external Sound Blaster and try to produce vocal audio with it. BIAB has 2-4 part harmony, and does pitch correction of you voice. It would be interesting to see how well it can fix my voice when I get out of range (lol). Anyway, still a steep learning curve that I hope to to conquer during the Christmas break.
