Song recorded last year (written in about twenty minutes and recorded in one take ) . . . . A tribute to some members from last year, new for the "newbies" . . . . Had hoped to arrange a new Holiday song with some "rock 'n roll heroes" from my past but wasn"t able to put together . . . . (Charlie, Matt, etc. you will know what I am talking about . . . think Journey) . . . . recorded on a '63 Teisco (Japanese guitar) my Dad gave me for Christmas . . . . Thanks Dad . . . And thanks to Mike (mcarp) for keeping us together, for honest (albeit sometimes painful) critique, and his tireless administration of this site . . . . for the newbies, enjoy, don"t laugh . . . . . .
Boys in The Band . . . . . . . . .

Roger, It's fun to listen to this song again. I'm reminded of those that have faded away since last year. So Cam, you do still have your ears on. I wondered if you'd signed off and now only frequent the 2488 forum. Jim

Thanks for posting again Roger. Brings back the PS5 memories of last year. Really good sound quality. It started out just like the "70's America" acoustic guitar sound. Yea Cam, all those virtual tracks are really paying off...I'm sure you are using more than the 20+ ones you already have. Nice clear, precise, guitar tones. Stan

Hey Guys
Well guys, ok, the 2488 has 24 tracks 8 or 10 of which are stereo tracks which comes in real handy cause they can be treated as a mono tracks aswell. The 2488 has on top of that virtual tracks which can be used for alternate takes, versions, lots of stuff, which can be used with in the real 24 tracks. So in essence all you'll ever hear is 24 tracks Rob. Virtual tracks are nice when you want to explore different instrumentation or arrangements with out losing what you already have.
Robs correct, I did'nt go track crazy on this track, I have the 24 tracks which I didnt come close to filling on this recording.
1 - Acoustic Guitar 2 - Bass 3 - Electric Guitar 4 - Organ 5 - Lead vocal 6 - Backing/harmony vocal
Its a beautiful day was a simple tune, and did not need a big production that why I didnt use more. Originally it was just going to be acoustic because of the songs nature. Funny enough with all the virtual tracks at my disposal, I've never used one yet!
If you were to listen to 'The Daylight is Breaking' thats a different story.
1 - Acoustic guitar 2 - Bass 3 - Strings 4 - Strings (3 and 4 could have been done on 1 track, for control I did it on 2) 5 - Lead Vocal 6 - Backing vocal 7/8 - Adittional String work (Fancy Stuff) Flourishes (was on 2 tracks) 9 - Electric guitar Rythme 10 - Electric Lead (solo) 11 - Bass/kick Drum 19/20 - Drums
This one was a monster to mix, its still needs work but you know how it is...
Why thank you Rob ;D
