so how did you record the vocals then? i know you want to talk about BIAB....but what mic, preamp etc...i dont think i noticed any effects.
its great to see progress. i like to get where i can, either in my own work or others, and this is a great example.

Thanks Rob. I listened to vocals today and they sound pretty bad to me. I liked the chord progressions of the song because it reminded me of a souped-up 6-'s R&B melody, but I couldn't get my voice to adapt to the changes, or couldn't actually get the right meoldy in my head to sing to the chords (like another one of those songs that didn't quite get finished or where I would have liked it to finish) I used the Berr. URACK and a straight mic with some reverb and compression. No effects, expected maybe the ill-effects from my voice... Can't wait to do some collabs. with you, and maybe you and Rog can take the vocal responsibilities away. It has been a while. Thanks for listening. Stan

OOpps, Yea about Helen. She never listens to any of the songs I write...even about her... too busy out there spending my money or trying to think she can boss me around at home... doesn't work though, still do what I want (selfish in certain ways I guess, but aren't we all)... I was expressing my respect for my wife through the years of marriage or that was the theme I intended. Hope you have a great holiday Rob. I've been getting bossed around more by BIAB than Helen the last couple of days. I sure has a mind of it's own sometimes. Stan

life IS better when you have a great partner. nice sentiment, decent tune, always enjoy your old hippie waling on the guitar. i like the other song alot more though in terms of just being a song. nothing wrong w/this just saying, maybe a little busy in the background... maybe not just my impression
great seeing you crank em out stan next week im home, be prepared.. be very prepared

Stan! The real story here is Only Shared By Two. Did I miss the announcement on that one? I love the upbeat feel of it, and the vocal is a good match to the song! Innovative chord progression, too. Charlie

I'm kinda on the same page as Matt and Charlie here; BIAB is obviously allowing you to produce much more dynamic, cleaner recordings, but it feels (esp. in the choruses) like the guitar and vocal isn't quite meshing with the backing tracks. Still, as the overall production value improves, the critical remarks become more and more pointed. So don't take it as saying 'BIAB was a bad idea'; but as the quality gets stronger, the comments are more nit-picky. Besides, you know my mantra by now: Spend more time on the work, and the quality will show.

Stan,
I too like Only Shared By Two a lot. Good chord progression and structure. I like the vocals too.
