I wrote a song today using the R&B 6/8 drum pattern (wish there were a few more 3/4 or 6/8 patterns) Love 'em. I started with an acoustic strumming pattern on the left and then put a searing lead slightly right of another slow slide on the guitar bass strings on the right. If you have some time time to listen it is in my Christian page called "Don't Have To Live With The Dead." I know the vocal's delay effect might turn some off but I tried to pull it off anyway. Stan

I thought the delay on the vocal was fine. It's certainly a more natural sound than the overdriven sound you sometimes used (as mentioned in the last song).
Overall a somewhat Neil-Youngish sound. The lead has that slightly rambling feel Neil does now and then. The kick drum seemed a bit boomy in lo-fi; maybe take the TG down one line? Is there a bass in this? Compared to the recent BIAB sounds, this comes across as somewhat sparse, but I think it suits the mood of the song much better than cramming it full of instruments.
The ending seemed to sort of peter out, but other than a few minor points here and there, the tune as a whole is okay.

This was all PS5 with no bass. A bass would have given it a more driven feel, and probably should have added. Instead, I used a Les Paul to powerchord the low E-A-D strings and slide them from D to E and then from G to A on the second phrase, hitting the high E during the slide to give it a bit of a ring (whatever that means). I EQ'd that track at about 175H and panned at 40 on the right side. As for the vocal track, it sounded better on the PS5 with monitor headphones.
Mike, I tried to take your advise not compete on the individual guitar tracks to keep busy-ness down, and keep the acoustic more consistent througout. Overall, I'd self rate as "could have done better on guitar tracks, but not too bad," whereas vocals still have quite a ways to go before feeling comfortable.
Thanks for listening. Stan

Nicely written and executen Stan! To me, the lack of bass was quite evident, but your guitar work was very nice, as always. The delay on your vocal was a nice touch, but it's not quite clear - might be a tad too much delay, or perhaps too much signal. In any case, another nicely done song.

Thanks Bob. I'm not much on bass, but I may add a track later on, and then remix. Maybe bring the vocals down a bit or redo them.

Well, later on is now. See, I have this compulsive problem where I have to finish something (can't just wait till tommorw)
Anyway, I put a bass track into it and tweaked the panning and EQ to accomodate. Sounds more balanced to me anyway.
Thanks for the input. It really has helped.

Yeah, it's sounding more solid overall to me, without making it overly busy. You could even pump up the bass somewhat if you felt so inclined. Sounds like you pulled the vocal down in the last verse to make it an extended solo ending?

Agree with Mike - it would be good to mix up the bass, especially as a counterpoint to the very high leads you have there. Nice delay on the vocal too!

Well, I mixed in an FX-Bass setting on my Boss V-WAH pedal for recording the bass track. Now the bass sounds stronger on SoundClick than it does straight off my computer. Must have something to do with compression. Anyway, enough fiddling with this.
Definitely gave it a different mix sound.
