Well I just did my weekly post to the forum. I figure a posting-a-week is kinda like fiber in your diet; keeps this data-congestion in my head cleared out. With the new recorder shipping right now, it may be the last 16-bit audio I do for a while. Of course, the 24-bit has to be truncated back to 16 in order for SC to play it.
which brings back memories of my commute last year of going into the I-35 mixmaster in Dallas, merging to 183, forking into 114 at Texas Stadium. Not fun, not fun at all, but it made for a fun song.
The PS5 BadFinger lead guitar effect was a little disappointing after the bounce, but you can still pick it up if you listen.

Nice strong rhythm section, kicks off and stays all the way through! Sounds like doubled vocals, which work quite well, and absolutely fine guitar work, as always - I like the way you've layered them in the mix!

I liked it better before the bounce, because the track separation seemed to disappear and get muddled. That is why I don't like bouncing with compressed data, but I did mark a 2 millisecond delay on a copy between the two vocal tracks and then EQ'd them differently.
Thanks again for listening. Stan

Sorry it's taken so long to get around to hearing this. . .
I really like the solid sound of this song. Writing & playing are tight throughout. I can hear what you mean about the Badfinger lead - it's just detuned enough to make me wonder what it would sound like somewhat cleaner. But I like the lines themselves a lot. This might be a good first candidate for re-recording when you get the 2488 problems sorted out. As always, I'd like to hear a real fade at the end. Good punchy tune.

Thanks Mike for your suggestions. Maybe I can clean it up and record it on the 2488 for a comparson sometime over the weekend, and start getting use to the dials, 100 push buttons, and millions of settings... Thanks for the input. I really appreciate it. Stan

Hey Stan,
Dang man, I love the melody on this! The over-all composistion and your performance remind me alot of John Meloncamp stuff... A great feel!
This is just good ole rock music, I'd re-record this on the 2488 for sure, I think with some better clarity of the instrumentation this would really rock...
Technical issue, I feel the vocal is to far forward compared to the rest of the mix.
Good job Stan, I enjoyed the track! Cameron

Thanks Cam, Always enjoy your input. This was a quick song for fun, but I think it would be worth starting over on the 2488 to get some practice with the new recorder. I think it will take quite some time before I get the hang of it. Like most of my songs, I don't even remember what chords I was using but I have the words written down so maybe I can get close to the other recording's structure, but who knows, maybe it will just sound like another song altogether. Stan, Good solid backing. I can really picture you traveling into town while I listen. I especially like the line "each time there's a gap, another car's inbetween". I found it slightly distracting to have the vocals over on the left, but maybe that's just me. Good song inspiration - (this guy never stops thinking about his music) Jim

Well, I tried to retackle this on my new machine. There are a few glitches but I think that this version fits better in terms of feeling and track separation.
The vocals again seemed like they could be much better perfected but the balance of the mix seems quite a bit better. Jim, I center-balaced the vocals this time. Thanks for your inputs because it gave me something to think about when rerecording it.
Still got a long ways to go so I'll hope my mixes can improve over the next year.
Thanks again, Stan
