Done on the 788, Laying Low was written for a planned album with the band I was in at the time. After writing nearly 40 songs, the album was never done. This song features a very heavy string section, but buried underneath is two acoustic guitars, piano, french horn (on keyboard), short bursts of choir (also keyboard), bass, drums and whatnot. Reminds me very much of Isn't It a Pity by George Harrison. Somewhere on my Soundclick page.

Very nicely mixed Mike! I also hear the similarities to George's "Isn't It A Pity". Very nice sound on the French horn - a perfect choice for the solo part in this arrangement.

Thanks Bob! The majority of the solo was worked out on guitar first, then transferred over to french horn. When I first wrote the song, I had to pull out the chords to Isn't It A Pity just to make sure I hadn't nicked it (ironically, like My Sweet Lord).
