I've uploaded a working mix to SoundClick of a new tune that Al and I are working on, titled "Little Thing Called Rock & Roll". There's a link to the SoundClick page right at the bottom of this post. It's just a good old fashioned rock and roll tune, and Al does a great job on the vocal. He's also going to (eventually) do the lead, so I've just tossed something quick in place for the time being. This started on the PS5, and then migrated over to the 2488. The drum tracks were imported over from the PS5's TG, and then the rest were layered onto the 2488. The lead part was revised today (5/1/05), and the mix is very close to final - absolutely no processing in the computer at all - I just inported the stereo mix, trimmed some drums off the front, added a fade to the end. No FX or other enhancements were added - this sound is straight from the 2488 as you hear it.

It's great to hear those PS5 drums; most people would never guess where they came from. Not bad for a 'rough' mix. Sounds like Al has a lot of experience singing 'classic' rock. Nice album track.

Thanks Mike - I got spoiled during the band days, I guess. I knew I could compose and rely on Al to give the material a good strong voice, and he's always come through, as he does here!

Good 60's feel to it, and good vocal presence in the mix. I hear great separation as well as more detail in the PS5 MIDI drums underneath.

Thanks Stan - I ported the PS5 drums over as they were, and then ran them out to the rack where I gave them just a touch more reverb, and a ride through a BBE Sonic Maximizer. They came back in to another pair of tracks, then in the mix, I used the PS5 tracks at 99% and the effected tracks at about 40 - 45%. It was intended to be a good old fashioned 60's style tune, which is why Al added just a hint of Elvis in the chorus. Just a good time song to take a drive with
