I had some time this week to actually get back and record something. Yesterday I started changing up some drum patterns in the 2488 for practice, and came up with something like: verses - new age ballad pattern choruses - some off-beat rock pattern bridge - a pop pattern
I put together some chords and recorded the acoustic, electric guitar, with a bass track.
I wrote some quick lyrics and came up with a melody for it. I wanted to get some feedback on the mix. I know the vocal setting sounds similar to the "shout" vocal effect on the PS5, but I needed something with some real strength to match the background flow.
Anyway, it is on soundclick if you have time to critique it.
Thanks, Stan

Shouldn't it's be You're? As in "you are" instead of possesive ("your cup", etc.).
Has a CSN&Y feel to it. Acoustic guitar has a good sound to it. Bass could be maybe a tad bit louder. I think the vocal effect works well with your voice here. The reverb on the electric is fine, still might interfere with the vocal; might need repeated listenings to make sure.
How much time have you spent on the mix? I'm currently working on a song with 16 tracks, and it's taken easily two to three times longer to mix than to record.

Mike, Again thanks for such a fast response. Your correct. Without a spelling/grammer checker (and I mean on every word) I'll get into trouble. I probably spent an equal amount of time of mixing and recording, lyrics about 15 minutes. Maybe 1 to 2 hrs. mixing time using headphones. I am going to buy a book on mixing thinking about the Dummies for Musicians book but haven't decided yet. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Good panning has always been a problem when trying to decide where and how far out the track will fit. I've been trying to keep all tracks with a L40- R40 range, but sometimes things get a little crowded. I actually had 3 vocal tracks: 1) recorded with comp on, with a Shure mic 2) recorded with comp on, with the MXL V63M condensor mic, 3) A copy of T1 with a effect added I panned 1 to L5, 2 to R5, and 3 to C. The acoustic guitar was handled close to the same way: 1) recorded with the MXL and added midrange EQ 2) recorded with the Shure. 1 panned L20 and 2 R20 I may have put a small amount of reverb in the master step. All electric guitar effects were from the POD. The bass was straight into the front of the recorder without effects. Stan

I just purchased a Pocketstudio second hand but found the pattern file (I believe it's named patterns001.zip or sometning like that) was not included. I plan to use it in connection with a worship band I perform in, for songwriting, etc. Can you help me obtain the pattern file? Without it, the unit has no preset drum or accompaniment patterns available. Since your post talks about changing patterns, you must have this file. It contains all the patterns that come with the pocketstudio 5. I figured this out after I bought the unit. The file may be on a CD normally accompanying the Pocketstudio or on a memory card. Please reply and advise if you can help me or where I might look. I ttried Tascam themselves, but the unit is discontinued and they offer no support

This has been answered in your other thread in the PS5 Help section.

Hiya Stan,
I went to give this a listen, and didn't see it on either of your S.C. pages - I'm guessing you're reworking it?

Bob, Thanks for trying. I didn't like the way it was sounding on S.C. so I took it off. I usually do this when I don't think a song is very good, or maybe, like you said, record it again latter.
I'm just now posting another one that I spent more time on, and feel that it is a better post.
Thanks.
