I created this chord structure using Band In a Box, and then generated the SMF. There is one rythmn and 2 lead guitar tracks in the mix. Again, I might have pounded the point home a little too often, but I might do a remix if I decide to do some lyrics later. Don't know what kind of vocal melody would follow along with this though.
Still seems a little band-in-a-boxey but I tried to get the MIDI tracks more real sounding; if that is even possible.
Under "Stan's Band" Let me know what you think.

As you said, a little band in a boxey....which is to say simply that the MIDI sounds like MIDI. When you drop into the main verse part, I can just see Belushi and Ackroyd on stage..."I just need need need Someone to love...." Then in the bridge/chorus part, you go off into definitely uncharted territory. This has potential - I'd percolate on it a bit until the right lyric just pops into your head, and then redo it!

Bob, Thanks for your input on this. This was one of those questions should I shelve this? or maybe continue with some lyrics?, slow it down?, un-MIDI-fy it completely?.
I'll probably shelve it with a possibile revist in the future.

Hey Stan
I think this one is interesting, sounds familiar which is good, If you could come up with a awesome vocal melody this would be a keeper I really like the feel of the rhythm, the jumpyness of it...
I think it needs more melody but obviously a great progression to jam on, Some of the soloing will come in handy if you create a song out of this...
Good jam though, I enjoyed it! I can hear the improvement in your playing now, it was on!

Lots going on in this one Stan, so the title is appropriate. You could end up with one less guitar in the mix if you decide to add a vocal, just to keep things from getting too hectic (jumpy as Cameron says). Coming up with something melodic will be a challenge considering the pace of the tune as it is now.
But a nice jam it is, with very nice riffs here and there throughout.
Regards, Tom

I already had to go back and refresh my memory on what this song sounded like. Jams tend to satisfy quickly and then flee away real sudden-like.
Now I can see where the "familiarity" comments are coming from. "Blues Brothers" was not what I was going for, but sure enough, I do notice it now. Maybe this song would be worth at least another visit with that in mind.
Not going to get too carried away with my "suit-case-handcuffed-cartwheels" exit though. Just thinking about it registers 2 groan-pulls and a spranged-neck. ouch.

The riff is (among other things), What I Like About You by the Romantics; It's all good and tight, with a bit of wild guitar in the back, but not obtrusive enough to be a bother. Another one screamng out for lyrics, certainly. The snare is the most obvious MIDI-y sounding thing I can hear in lo-fi. This might be a great long-lost demo one day, after you redo it with a drum machine or a real live one.
