Hey chaps, having a late night surf and reading up on the forums... I just finished a 3 song project: 'Open Box', 'Paper' and 'Storm Chaser' ( www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=34072 ). I've been using a 2488 in conjunction with Ableton Live on the PC. I think my electric guitar hiatus is properly over now ;-) Cheers, David.

Nice stuff Dave.
Open Box - I like the ambient groove, but the stops are too abrupt. Guitar is of course, jazzy and breezy.
Paper - The FX on the guitar reminds me somewhat of the ole' mouthbox, as made famous by Frampton. The backing is smoother than on 'Open Box', and makes the whole piece flow better. Guitar is soaring, with a nice crunch sound. Neat ending.
Storm Chaser - Atmospheric, of course, given the title. I think the interaction between guitar and backing is the best here of the three. This is fun stuff.
Each track gets more and more complex than the previous one. Very good sonics. Fripp would be proud!

Generous words, indeed...Fripp!!? ;-) I think you got that spot-on with the progressive complexity...'Open Box' was first, etc, etc. It's been like a mini-evolution figuring out all the technology and starting to really control the software. I now realise that when you get the capability to record loads of layers...you do just that. Then things get busier and busier and it's really hard to say goodbye to a part for the sake of the song.
Still finding my way and having fun doing it.
Cheers, Dave.

Hey Dave, I really enjoyed this Trio of instrumentals!
My favorite was Paper. I loved your lead tracks. They remind me of the Isley Brothers of the early 70s (Who's That Lady?). Very cool rings and harmonic sounds as well. The ending was unexpected but stood out as "Really cool!"
I also really liked Open Box because of the guinuine soulful sound it gave. Very expressive, refreshing, & clean. I like Sound Chaser too, but not as well as the other 2. Maybe some predictability after the middle was in there, but both your playing & production was great on all 3 songs. Really nice.
Thanks for the listen. Enjoyed them. Stan

You're not the first person to say that...weird ;-) The ending was unexpected but stood out as "Really cool!" The ending is all organic! I put a software 'grain delay' on the master tracks and ramped the intensity for that last bar. The sound just (kind of) comes apart. I like Sound Chaser too... 'Sound Chaser'!!? Now I know you've been spending too long on the 2488 forum ;-) Good point, by the way, I was thinking that it needed more variety towards the end. Thanks for listening. Cheers, Dave.

In my opinion, (maybe not politically correct) you had the best-sounding PS5 tracks on the Dylan collab a few years back. Your vocals were cool too. Just didn't hear much of your music after that.
Now that I've heard some of your songs again, and looking in contrast, I just think wow, there is no limit to what this guy is capable of. Keep curning them out, get some vocals in there, and create a good master. Then sell some CDs online. You have a guaranteed customer.

Wow...kind words...ta very much. I don't sing much, so that was a rarity! ;-) Just after that I almost totally dropped electric guitar (and recording) for a few years of nylon/classical study...which then morphed onto steel string acoustic...then back to recording... Now that I've heard some of your songs again, and looking in contrast, I just think wow, there is no limit to what this guy is capable of. Keep curning them out, get some vocals in there, and create a good master. Then sell some CDs online. You have a guaranteed customer. Thanks again. I'd like to once I get happy and consistent with what I'm doing. However, I just got a Chapman Stick so I'm putting some time aside to try and get some chops on that instrument...should give a fresh new compositional angle...as well as some interesting bass lines ;-) Cheers, David.
