Stan, you've made good progress with the 2488; the recording is clear, and uncluttered as some of your previous tunes. The guitars especially are well-panned and tight. An exciting little number as well. What I dont' like (you knew there'd be something, right?), is some of the drum fills sound like they're being played backwards. Sometimes the tambo counter-rhythm works, sometimes it doesn't. The vocal is okay, but it sounds sort of cramped and tiny, next to the expansive backing. Ending seems kinda short and quick as well. Seems like it should fade out with a wailing guitar, not cut off in mid-verse.
Still, production quibbles aside, this is one of the best produced tracks I've heard from you yet. I know you've been studying up on it, and it shows.

Thanks Mike for listening and commenting. I was wondering if cloning the vocal track might get rid of the thinness. These are excellent sugestions that I'll incorporate the next time I get a chance to go back to the mixing board.

Cloning the vocal might result in phase cancellation; If you do so, move the cloned track back by a few milliseconds (as you may recall, the PS5 doubling trick does). This will thicken the sound. Altho you might just add a bit more reverb to the vocal instead.

Mike, Right now, I'm still using is the UB802 mixer for recording vocals but am seriously considering this based on price range: Click hereIt has great reviews, and also has a USB version for about $100. Edit - fixed link (Mike)

Yep, it's the one everyone talks about. If you get it, give us a full report.
