The intro started to make me think of Dylan's If Not For You. The mix is okay, the playing is okay, altho the guitar seems a little lost at times. The chorus seems a little long-winded, taking some time to get to the point. It's better than In Paradise, but it still seems a bit of a struggle. Right after this I had another listen to The Birds from Yesterday, and that's still great. Now you're in the unenviable position of having to come up with something at least that good, and it's tough, as you're seeing.

Yea, it is sort like trying to get that extra 1/64" growth on your bicep (takes lots of curls to get there) and you don't notice it until one day it just barely happens. Thanks again Mike for suffering through these series of songs and your honest opinions. I'm looking for that 1 or 2 more to complete an album and get a CD ready. Hopefully around summertime. Stan

Not many songwriters come up with a new song every few days. You, Stan, seem to have lots of inspiration !
About Your Tender Loving Care : in my opinion, the recording and mix is very okay and the playing is simple and to the point, but the song itself isn't very strong, compared to some of your other work (i.e. The Birds From Yesterday and Gossip Junkies).
Still, that's what songwriting is : many ideas, and once in a while, something that really sticks.
Looking forward to hear your next songs, Stan.
Chris

Chris, Funny you mentioned the trial & error stuff. That is basically what I do whenever writing music. From my early songwriting, with the PS5, I layed out a musical structure first with its mood long before even thinking about any words. In fact, I've seldom spent more than about 30 minutes coming up with lyrics. Writing music this way gives me the advantage of making the words match the mood instead trying to come up with a mood to match my words; which to me is much harder.
Rob, Thanks for your kind words. Did you ever get your recorder fixed, or get a new one? I sure miss your MP3 posts. Even your early rock songs that were only 2 minutes long sounded amazing. As Aerosmith said, "Back, Back In The Saddle Again!"
