Stan,
It's clear you've taken the critical comments from the last few recordings to heart. This number is almost completely devoid of the usual pitfalls that bedevil (heh) your work. And the result is dramatically different from the last few tunes. Certainly your best effort since 'The Birds from Yesterday'. This song has clear-cut parts, as opposed to freeform playing in the background. It's obviously well-thought out. As a result, the parts are all exciting and work together to add something of substance, instead of distracting from the whole. There is good change of pace from the verses to the middles, the chorus is catchy, the riff is interesting, etc. etc. Overall there's a faint scent of psychedelia - this song would not sound out of place in 1966, which is actually a pretty big compliment.
Even a real ending!
What I wasn't crazy about is the odd forays into minor mode the riff seems to plunge into on it's downward spirals. At first I thought it was slightly out of key, but I think now it's a minor dissonance. It kinda grows on you, but it is a bit annoying at first. Possibly if I listened to it a lot, I'd end up liking it. Might be best not to change it.
I like this, for the most part - good clean playing & recording, catchy, sticks in the head. Think I'll download it to keep. It's great to hear what you can do when you don't fall into that 'work on it for a day' mentality that short-circuits your output sometimes.

Hey Stan,
Nice work bud. I second everything that Mike said about the quality of this piece. I would also have to agree with the psychedelia comment -- the instances of in tune feedback reminded me of the Strawberry Alarm Clock, who so infuenced me in the 60s that I sold put aside my tele and bought an SG. What kind of ax did you use on this tune?
Regards, Tom

Thanks Mike & Tom for listening & comments.
I know I'm starting on the right track when Mike give the thumbs up. I approached this song by developing a solid link between the acoustic guitar track & MIDI drums. That set a reliable structure for the rest of the tracks to follow.
Guitars: Acoustic - Alvarez cappoed up one step Les Paul - dirty leslie track(organ sound) Strat - lead (can't remember the amp setting right now)

A bit late with my comment, but not much time lately : deadlines, you know... Nothing to add to the earlier comments from Mike and Tom, and fully agree with them : this song and recording is very much OK, Stan. Chris
