If you get some time to listen (lyrics & MP3 DL included): www.soundclick.com/bands/page_songInfo.cfm?bandID=221925&songID=6474823First draft was finished yesterday, but might redo vocals (as usual) , maybe change up lyrics, and maybe add a harmony part to finish up. Just wanted to get a feel. SC had me listed under 30 in the charts on the first day so for whatever that stat is worth I'm happy about that. One of those, "Why did you never grow up ole' man" kind of songs. Not my norm of course, and way out of the "blue" box.

Downloaded it from SC as I can't access myspace from work.
I wouldn't change the lyrics except may to shorten the song. Or you could shorten it by having the guitar solo lead into a verse rather than a repeat of the chorus.
I like the rests between chords in the left guitar part in first two lines of the verse, and would extend that for the entire verse to make provide a contrast to the chorus. Vocals should come up some.
Just my 2 as always.
Regards, Tom

Fun song! Reminds me of Tom Petty. That's a GF compliment. I love Tom Petty!

Said it before : much of Stan's work reminds me of Tom Petty. Not sure that Stan likes to be compared with Petty, but there you have it.

Actually I love Tom Petty and may even go see him around the first part of June in downtown Dallas. The mix was a real mess and so was the vocals so I redid vocals, with harmony, and did some more work on the mix today. www.soundclick.com/bands/page_songInfo.cfm?bandID=221925&songID=6474823I like the SoundClick stream sound better, but you can download a much higher sample rate MP3 off of Myspace. The Mpspace streaming sounds really bad for some reason. I really appreciate you guys taking the time to listen, and your comments. They are much appreciated.

Hey the drums are great! As I've commented many, many times before, I think your material comes across a lot stronger when you restrain yourself from just jamming throughout. Tight, disciplined parts that lock together will always be better than 'free-forming' it. Much, much better.
What I'm not keen on is how the mix (in phones) has the guitars and drums spread so much, there's sort of a sonic hole in the middle where the vocals are. And the vocals are exciting and fun, but they sound like they were done over a McDonald's drive-thru microphone. I'd pull the guitars in just slightly back from the edges, and have some meat on the vocals. They're somewhat flat and tinny sounding at the moment, which is a shame.

Thanks Mike, This was mostly mixed on my computer with my new soundcard. Although making changes are much easier to do now, it's harder to balance since I don't have studio monitors (yet)
As always, thanks for your advice. Stan
