Hey everyone! I posted yet another little creation from the magical PS5 on MySpace today. Check it out!! Tried to do a little bluesy number. Used my new DigiTech Vocalist4 on a direct line in, so it captured guitar and vocals on one track. Have never done that before! When you get to the chorus, GF magically clones herself into 3 part harmony! tee hee

Had a quick "silent" listen (middle of the night, no headphones around and guests in the house, so have to be quiet) : another very nice song & recording, GF !

Nice chord sequence and melody. And a catchy chorus, which is always important. And a middle eight too! The little riff is okay, but maybe a bit weaker than the rest of the writing. Mix-wise, it's okay. I'm not crazy about the drums, mainly because they sound so much like a drum machine, it reminds you that it is indeed a drum machine. This was the problem with 'Modern Day Dorothy' as well. Still, I spent many years recording demos on the Venerable 144 without any drums at all, so I guess I shouldn't complain now...
Overall, another good number. Keep 'em coming!

See, the whole deal is I simply need a band!!! haha!!! I need a drummer, and a killer lead guitarist to fill out my weak little riffs. Then I need a sound engineer to make it all sound right. Oh yeah...and someone to haul all the heavy stuff around and plug in this maze of wires!!! Do you think Santa will be able to fit all of this in my stocking this year?

Hey GF, Very solid, a beautiful song, and nice lyrics... all the ingredients Your vocals sound very nice on this one. No nits at all. I like the way you harmonized both with vocals and your 2 keyboard instrument tracks (nice & tight). It definitely highlights your talent.

Hi fellas. I tweaked my new demo again on MySpace. I bounced drum and bass to T1 which freed up T2 to add a teensy bit more guitar...a little lead part to fill out the interludes which were a little weak. What do you think? Better?

The riff is better indeed. The mix seems to have picked up some more reverb, which is making the low end and vocals a bit muddier than I remember from the previous listen. But maybe it's me.

Yes...I think I hear that subtle change as well, but I didn't change the reverb settings at all. I did bounce 2 to 1. I wonder if that's the issue. I'm not sure what to "tweak" to fix that. At least the little riff is better.

Bouncing tracks will always muddy them slightly. If you recorded the tracks with reverb ('wet' as opposed to 'dry' without reverb), then reverb 'em again during the mix, you end up reverbing the reverb, which is generally not a good thing to do.

I recorded them dry, however, when I mixed the first MP3, i added reverb. When I went to tweak, add, and bounce, I forgot to put the reverb return back to zero. Perhaps that's it! I saved the original tracks before bounce. Maybe I'll do a little experimenting with it.........but only AFTER some serious Mexican food and a margarita. In case you didn't know it, Houston has GREAT Mexican food. Yum.
Thanks for your help, Mike. ;D

OK GF, I've made that mistake a few times on bounces, and it plays havak. Any effects or panning settings need to go back dead center. Otherwise you are EQing the EQ or panning the pans on both playbacks & mix (ouch). It's always nice to get a fresh set of ears or to leave and come back. It works wonders sometimes.
Glad you caught it. I'm positive you will hear the difference.
