Well, GF has stepped out of the box yet again! Hahah!! Last step out was Come Together, which by the way is getting lots of plays on my page! Who knew??? I gotta rethink things. Maybe there's a rock-n-roll gal in me after all!!
This guy in Poland, who is a DJ, liked my voice and the song Other Reasons, so, he asked if he could use it in a remix for promotion. He sent it to me and even "vamped up" my mug shot! Haha! I almost look alluring without having to be totally drunk!
If you go to my page, I posted a little blog with his web address if any of you want to hear GF in a dance tune! People in Poland are dancing up a storm!! Hope all of you are well. ;D

Hey!!! Is that an eye roll icon, Professor Mike???!!!! haha!! I know...you must think I'm nuts, and you are so right! I updated one of my blogs and posted your soundclick pages as well as the Phoenix page address. You guys have done some good work! If you want me to take them off, let me know. Chris, I don't know if you have a page. I have seen Mike's, Stan's, and Tom's. If you have a music page link you'd like me to add to my little "family" page, let me know. And Mike, shame on you! Stop rolling those eyes at the disco remix and just DANCE already!!! haha!! GF's heart is in rock-n-roll, too, but as a dance teacher, let me just say we are going to have some fun with this in class tomorrow!!!!

Hi GF, Myspace is banned at my work and I seldom login except to upload or delete a few of my songs, or to playback your posts (I spend almost all of my time in forums with other musicians)
The dance song reminds of something I would most likely turn off and change to a Classic Rock channel while I was trying to work out. My brain doesn't process that style very well at all.
It's tons of fun to experiement with music and cross genre lines but in the end stick with what you do best. You already know what that is, and you've had success with it.
Your friend, Stan

Worry not fellas. This was HIS experiment, not mine. I simply agreed to allow him to use the dry lyric track for fun. And I agreed to post it right next to the original to show the contrast. I guess the teacher in me was excited to illustrate "possibility" through this as a little artistic endeavor. Must be residual sentiments from visiting all those modern art museums while in NY! Even Sarah MacLachlan has done this. Celine Dion, too. And it's not for listening, but for dancing and movement...and remember...that's my day job! You are absolutely right about sticking to what we do best, and disco re-mixes certainly aren't my forte!!! ha! And to sit and listen to it would likely make me nuts, but dancing to it...well that's another thing! As much as I have a preference for a certain kind of music, and will write and perform in a certain genre, I am very respectful of the gifts and talents of artists in many genres. Just as you all helped me to hone my skills, I felt like I was giving him a chance to hone his....sort of returning the favor to a fellow musician. So don't expect any more dance re-mixes on my page, and that one will only be posted for a while to help boost his confidence. You'll soon be seeing more classic GF. Just been too busy to record lately.... Hugs, boys... GF

Hi GF,
I am in the same boat as Stan in that myspace is banned where I work and I will have to find an opportunity at home to give the dance track a listen. But I suspect that I will not like it as much as I do you being you -- it was after all the coming of disco dance music that motivated me to get out of the business and get a real job. Nevertheless I encourage you to continue stepping out of the box now and then to try new styles. Doing so will not change you for the worst, and in some cases things learned might change you for the better by expanding the number of things you do well.
Tom

Hey GF (and other PS5UG friends),
I just returned from Belgium (and very glad to be back too !).
So now, I finally have the opportunity and time to listen to what ye all have produced musically during my trip.
The "Other Reasons" dance version is.... hmmmm... interesting.
No, honestly, this is not my cup of tea. But then, "dance" never is, really.
Mind you, I have absolutely nothing against creative experiments, and I do not see this as "stepping out of the box" : a creative mind has no box to stay in, in my opinion. And this polish guy certainly has lots of skill and talent : as far as "dance standards" is concerned, his work - using your lyric track, GF - is probably very good, I guess.
It's just that, well...it may not be very "open minded" and all, but honestly, GF : you won't find many musicians (old rockers ?) such as our PS5 friends and myself who like them "dance" genres : we qualify this as being just "sound" rather than "music".
Anyhow, as you say yourself : it's just an experiment. So be it.
Answering the question about a possible music page link : thanks for asking, GF, but no, I don't have a personal music page on the net. (I only write music for other people and I'm not a singer myself, so...).
Apart from all that : I'm really looking forward to hearing your new original work, guys.
After this summer, I should have enough time to put a few musical notes on paper (and on tape ?) just for the fun of it, for a change. I'll let you know.
Chris

Chris, It's great to hear you are back safely. I too enjoy hearing what everyone is up to.
Maybe someone could write an original song this Fall and pass it around for some collab additions. I think one song would be easy enough to complete since we just finished 18. Anyway, I'll let the idea gel a while.
Take care, Stan
