Why do I migrate to chaos? ha! Well, Houston still has problems, but we're improving exponentially. I still haven't recorded on 2488. Getting there, but slowly. I have 4 new tunes to record, but I'd like to try them on 2488, so in the interim to keep myself sharp and still using PS5, I'm going to try to record a "tribute" cover each week to an artist(s) having a profound impact on my music. Quick and easy. Totally acoustic.
I've posted my first one, "Ten Mile Stilts" by Wailin' Jennys. It's really soothing. Played it much during those candlelit, electricity gone storm recovery nights. It's really soothing and was a big help...
So, listen in boys. I wrote a blog explaining my project a little more if you want to read about it....
Hugs, GF

Hi GF,
Great idea, great song, and very well recorded, played and sung.
This really shows your talent as a guitar player and as a singer, for those who hadn't realised it already.
Well, still learning the 2488 ? Take your time, but we're all waiting to see and hear your first 2488 production.
Why not record one of your "quick and easy" tribute covers on the 2488 ? You would only have to deal with three or four tracks, as with the PS5, so I imagine that it would not be too difficult as a first project.
In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if you've done that already...
Anyway, very nice to hear from you again, GF.
Chris

Very nice. I could nit-pick and say it might be a touch too much reverb, but it's not a big deal.
Chris, why is GF getting a nicer acoustic sound on the PS5 than you?

Chris, why is GF getting a nicer acoustic sound on the PS5 than you? That's what I'm asking myself and you all since the beginning, Mike. The only real answer must be that she simply plays better and records better than me. Maybe I could beat her at playing the drums, who knows. Other than that...ah...well....let me think. Soldering, perhaps ?

GF, I know it's frustrating to learn a new piece of equipment but it is well worth the time. The 2488 records more detailed and it has a good master compresser that helps the overall volume of all the tracks. Bounce mode is very easy since all you need to do is set to bounce and then select either a mono track record light or a stereo track record light if you want to submit EQ/effects/pans etc. to stereo (to a stereo submix). Since you have lots of stereo tracks it gives the ability to record several mixes with different effects to hear which sounds better.
I hope your project turns out the way you want it to. When I can get on Myspace I go over and have a listen. Meanwhile spend some extra hours with the 2488 and you'll get there sooner than you think, and don't forget the forums which are invaluable to get you up to speed quicker.
Glad to hear things are gradually getting back to normal.
P.S. - In additon to Myspace I'd get a SoundClick account (or several). Maybe create one for your new project to post mixes before posting the final one to Myspace.

If any recording I make ever sounds good, it's totally by accident, and you know it! LOL! As for the heavy reverb (here's where you get permission to laugh at me), I actually did that on purpose. I recorded it as a lullaby for a friend, and I wanted it to sound very ethereal, dreamy, and otherworldly, so I intentionally saturated it with reverb for fun. I know. I'm kooky, but it's fun to play around with the sound...just cuz I can! ha! ;D Good idea on the SoundClick page, Stan. I actually opened a profile page a long time ago, but never did a thing with. I'll have to get organized with that. Is anyone else overwhelmed?

I like the depth on the reverb. I think it gives it more acoustic appeal. Very nice guitar tracking! Great song!

GF, Having a listen on the new soundclick site I'm kinda with Mike of the reverb. It is nice from an artistic sense; there's just a little too much of it IMO. Other than that - I am amazed as usual. Amazed at your talent, and amazed that you are doing things this good on the lowly PS5! Tom
